Successive governments since 1988 (Ed Reform Act) have overlooked this: If you have the same attainment expectations for all children, you'll marginalise ~20% of them & will have to deal with those marginal problems in perpetuity.

@jon_severs @JohnGRoberts @tes I was interviewed by bbcnews straight after BP’s speech. She framed specialist schools as being less than, un-expert, harmful, sad. It was so upsetting. I challenged that narrative in the moment but I haven’t seen any media pick up on it so I’m really glad John has.
