Being obsessed with happiness can make us unhappy.
Joy doesn't arise from ruminating about our emotions. It comes from immersing ourselves in worthwhile experiences.
Happiness is not a goal to pursue. It's a byproduct of leading a life of meaning and engagement.

If you worry about what others think or say. Here is a room FILLED with all the people who pay your bills, walk in your shoes every day, and determine your future. The same people you should allow to discourage you about achieving your dreams.
For all of the most important things, the timing always sucks. Waiting for a good time to quit your job? The stars will never align and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time. The universe doesn’t conspire against you, but it doesn’t go out of its way to line up all the pins either. Conditions are never perfect. “Someday” is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. Pro and con lists are just as bad. If it’s important to you and you want to do it “eventually,” just do it and correct course along the way.
People spend a lot of time talking about other people's bodies, gossiping about other people's relationships, critiquing other people's business, etc.
Keep your eyes on your own paper. Work on your body. Nurture your relationships. Improve your business.
We all have plenty to improve.
Jimmy’s family came from Newfoundland and Labrador and he had a strong connection to his roots. He visited the province several times and made a point of performing here. He was very kind to my brother and spread a lot of that same kindness every time he visited. RIP Jimmy.
Any leader, presented with the devastating events of this summer, who continues to feel that rallying the public around a genuine climate emergency plan is too politically risky, is not a leader fit for these times.
