Another fab week with the @UOW_IoE PGCE Humanities students. We’ve looked at knowledge organisers, assessment & differentiation. And WE WENT TO A CASTLE! There’s promise of carrot cake as a ‘healthy’ treat for their final week before reading week and then school experience.
@MrCornishTweets@Mr_AlmondED Reading fluency is important. The phrasing of problems can also be odd, especially when trying to vary the position of the unknown. Gerofsky calls it a distinct literary genre, and many are unfamiliar with its structure
@MrCornishTweets@Mr_AlmondED My doctorate focused solving word problems. Within my research sample reading the problem aloud, being able to answer ‘what do you know?’ and drawing bar models were both highly effective.
