Seeing how much the world accepts that it’s impossible to move on after watching CPR really makes me think about how we (medical professionals, especially those who work in Emergency departments) are expected to just move on immediately after a code.

I'm still thinking about the elderly lady in the ED corridor I avoided making eye contact with on Tues. I walked past because I was hungry, tired, & trying to get home 2 hours late. She was on a chair looking lost. I wish I'd had the energy to stop and offer her a cup of tea. 😢

Last night’s on call in numbers:
107 patients, 59 physical spaces, 62 patients waiting to go to wards. 75 hr longest wait to get to a ward. 6 Major Traumas, 3 ventilated patients. 1 ED Consultant with 1 question “How would you keep this safe?”

I had so many patients/relatives tonight say to me "I didn't realise it had for this bad in hospitals" referring to waiting in corridors or waiting to be seen.

I was the designated "corridor" doctor for the night shift. Its so bad we need a corridor doctor.

Yesterday on shift in ED- 18hours to offload from ambulances, >70 hour (!) wait for admission to wards. No facilities for washing/warm food/dignity. I have taken to asking families to feed their relatives. It has never been this bad. #Moralinjury #burnout #moralexhaustion
