Important to note that iโm definitely not talking about the games themselves. Im talking about the national governing bodies in charge of the british teams and athletes, it is already combined in other countries and from what Iโve seen, it seems to have had amazing results
Is it finally about time @TeamGB and @ParalympicsGB think about merging??
Can only imagine improving equality would be easier?
Seems to work for countries like @TeamUSA
?
@Fortnums Yes โTeam GBโ only refers to Olympians and we as Paralympians are supposed to correct when they call us Team Gb and say โactually weโre notโ. The point about Thursdays reception was that we were all invited together, however with regards to uniform and after events itโs separated
Itโs sad that we as Paralympians feel the need to speak out about equality so often, and great @shawzac for speaking out, especially as his team mate who he trains with every day was treated differently, I in fact โgatecrashed๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ the event with a few of my teammates andโฆ.. 1/2
Hi @Fortnums ๐ as youโre aware, the Olympic and Paralympic medalists were invited to Buckingham Palace yesterday. It would be nice to understand why you hosted an after party for the Olympic medalists but made the decision not to invite the Paralympic medalists? Why? ๐ ๐
Spoke personally to the CEO Tom Ashton who was very nice and apologetic about the situation, and Iโm not sure @Fortnums were aware we were all together at the reception. This goes down to a bigger issue of the huge gap between Team GB and Paralympics GB (yes they are separate)..
@robinl03@shawzac@Fortnums Hello, I went also, and can confirm we were not invited, we โgatecrashedโ and were let in. I did have a long conversation with the head of Fortnums who apologised and wasnโt aware of all the separations that go on between para and Olympic team
