What a day! My cup is full! Huge thanks to our committee for a wonderful #asgc2025 sig day!
So excited to be joined by some of the giants of our profession who were there at the start when the meeting was 10 people! Now we’re a membership of 500!

Shout out to our #ASGC2025 SIG day Local Organising Committee Lucinda Freeman, Sheridan O’Donnell, Laura Yeates, Kathleen Le Marquand and Deb Redelman on coordinating such an epic day 🎉 Thank you from all of us! 🧬💜
Delightful to meet with colleagues at the @NSWCVRN Showcase and Ministerial awards. This year on beautiful Gadigal lands at Sydney Opera house! The room is packed with dedicated researchers trying to better the heart health of all Australians @heartfoundation@GarvanInstitute
What a joke! 2 hour commute this morning (usually 45mins), now close enough to home to walk and I’m stuck between stops with this stupid announcement. This needs to stop @TrainsInfo@ChrisMinnsMP sort it out. And atleast give me a refund for my travel today. @smh#sydneytrains
The @HGSAAustralasia are doing great work to try and change this. Medicare rebates for genetic counsellors would increase services and reduce waiting times for families - so hopefully there is change coming soon! 🧬❤️
Happy Genetic Counsellor Awarenesa day!
I love today! I get to don on my GCAD t-shirt and rabbit on about why I love my job so much! (Like I’m not happy to do that every day 😉).

Did you know in Aus there are no Medicare rebates to see a genetic counsellor? Even though most Medicare funded genetic tests recommend genetic counselling. Whilst you can access a genetic counsellor through your local genetics service, these often have long waits times. 🗓️
🧬 This Genetic Counsellor Awareness Day, we celebrate and acknowledge the dedication and compassion of genetic counsellors across Australasia. Thank you for your invaluable support! #ThankYouGCs#GCAwarenessDay#ANZGeneticCounsellors
📅 Mark your calendars! November 14 is Genetic Counsellor Awareness Day. Join us online to hear from some our own amazing genetic counsellors share their stories of how they work in a range of areas! #GCAwarenessDay#GeneticHealth#GCAD2024

Well done, @LauraYeates1 presenting on psychological support needs for families after sudden cardiac death of a young person - challenging clinicians to ask about coping and wellbeing the next family they see 💥 #APHRS2024@GCAustralasia
