The following polyphenols, molecules found abundantly in tea, chocolate, red wine, blueberries, and other foods and drinks, have been shown to extend lifespan in model organisms:
*EGCG (mainly found in tea)
*curcumin (from the spice turmeric)
*quercetin (tea, onions, etc.)
*ellagic acid (berries, tea)
*proanthocyanidins (grapes, grape seed)
*rutin (a quercetin derivative)
Every single one of these chelates (binds and removes) iron. And to my knowledge, this is an exhaustive list.
Iron is the common link.
Scientists basically never discuss this, and neither do life extension influencers.
I have and still do though. See my peer reviewed paper, "Iron: an underrated factor in aging", published in the journal Aging.
