This really warms my heart... T^T teaching is hard work, but moments like these make me realize how important of a role we’ve been given. What a privilege it is to teach! (:
A2: We have events like the "Polar Bear Pancake Breakfast” in which we invited our students and families to join us for pancakes! This Friday, we also have “Black Excellence” in which some of the students and staff will put on performances to celebrate Black history! #BmoreEdchat
A1: Most times I'll celebrate student growth and success in real time, like the moment it happens, or recognize their hardwork during whole group instruction, using them as a model #BmoreEdchat
“The beauty of teaching is that we are forgiven each day because of our reflective and reflexive ability to change and improve” — that’s some #truth I needed to hear because it’s easy to condemn myself for a bad lesson/day, but I’m learning and growing too!
@bmoreedchat A5: I’m excited to read Whole Brain Teaching. Reaching all of our kids is critical. The relationships we build impact the content we teach. The beauty of teaching is that we are forgiven each day because of our reflective and reflexive ability to change and improve #BmoreEdChat
@Nylinka@flokoul I love the idea of a student led lesson, but how would this look practically speaking? How would you manage if the lesson goes off-tangent?
@MsJamieGilmore1@bmoreedchat That makes a lot of a sense and is less overwhelming to think about. It’s tempting to want to but it all, but you’re right that it should be about what MY students need. Thank you for the advice!
A1 I wish I had know that pedagogy and relationship building are the bedrock of teaching, but that it is ok for the relationship building to come first #BmoreEdchat
@MsJamieGilmore1@bmoreedchat I’ve heard/seen many teachers in real life and on Pinterest invest A LOT into their classroom. How much would you say is the appropriate amount to invest into classroom resources as a first year teacher? Or what did you know to invest into like books, manipulatives, etc.?
@mrterborg@Owl_b_TorresEdu I definitely am learning that more and more as I’ve been interning... but @Owl_b_TorresEdu I will keep in mind your written and digital method of documentation! Thank you!
A7: I will try to implement more student centered learning and more choice so the students can take more ownership of their learning. Rather than just talking their ears off... #BmoreEdchat#r12digin
Q5: To never forget why we wanted to teach in the first placeand what this profession is all about: the students. The relationshio you make with your students and how much you invest into them as a whole person is worth more than just “going by the curriculum”. #BmoreEdchat
@r12digin A3: By giving them a menu of options that covers the same content. Allows you to teach what you have to, but gives them the power of choice #BmoreEdchat
