I think reporting social media engagement for museums is an interesting and useful tool for understanding potential visitors to an institution. #MSTDSM

However I do wonder how much SM engagement is already being used to pitch future exhibitions or how it might be changing the way institutions think about objects in their collection. #MSTDSM

@SophiaCKaminski But I think we have to remember that social media is a way for people ALL OVER to engage with the institution so engagement doesn’t necessarily equate to in person visiting #mstdsm

@eocieslik I have also been thinking about this and if theres a way to use our personal tech in a way to directly engage with the exhibit instead of somewhat removing ourselves from the space. Maybe like how tech is used by the museum itself

@k_g_campbell It’s really hard to have blanket statements in Memorial museums like the Holocaust Memorial Museum or even the memorial at Auschwitz-Birkenau now photos are allowed and in those spaces it feels so wrong to be taking selfies or similar photos.
