We don't go out or see other people much, so without checking this app I'm completely oblivious to any happenings beyond what gets shared in work slack or group chats. But being that disconnected from the outside world feels really weird and off-putting
Twitter used to be my online home, and now the only reason I log in every few days is because it's been my only source of news for years
What are the generally trustworthy news outlets these days for staying up-to-date on current events? For world or game industry news
I've gotten so used to having my news "pre-vetted" by users whose judgement I trust posting a steady stream of articles with commentary, corrections, criticism, etc. from all over the place, I'm embarrassed to admit I hardly know where to start looking when left to my own devices
I don't think the switch from "character" to "system cog" is something to necessarily avoid. In fact, I'd say to embrace it as an inevitability due to the rules-based nature of games.
Still, it's fascinating when a game manages to stretch the illusion beyond its usual limits
What game(s) do you think best preserve the humanity of its characters during gameplay? Specifically, ones the player interacts with directly
There's always a point where my view of an NPC switches from "character" to "systems puzzle" and I'd love to understand that better
This is why I never understood cutscene hate. I get it from a design and narrative perspective, but I rarely found the /experience/ of cutscenes annoying. They're often the only times I get to see NPCs as characters instead of parts of a system to manipulate for desired outcomes
Tfw when some random armchair psych blog puts words to your specific brand of existential anxiety that "fear of rejection/abandonment" lacked the nuance for
Reading hundreds of webcomics and light novels has made it clear that my favorite flavor of romance boils down to
"Local calamity cures eternal boredom by trying to solve the puzzle of human emotions, destroying entire countries in the process"
Anyways, Red Fox is really good
I'm sure there are other studios out there that accomplish the same thing that I just haven't been exposed to, but for now ufotable is my ride-or-die for fight sequences and will probably continue to rewatch their work for a long, long time
Finally clicked that the reason I've gone back to rewatch a ufotable fight sequence at least once a week for the last year is because despite any criticism I might find, what they do better than anyone else is how they choreograph action to music
Whether conscious or not they have a strong grasp on the subtle, underlying flow of a musical piece, and the way they harness that elevates their action sequences to a level I rarely see in other animation. It's intensely immersive for me.
Tried splitting my cats' 1 meal/day into lunch and dinner in hopes they'd stop throwing up from eating too fast
Now they throw up from eating too fast twice a day, and I'm haunted by four ominous figures hovering in my periphery from the moment I wake up until around noontime
Fantasy as we know it today was created by a self-taught French artist from the 19th century.
He has influenced everybody from HP Lovecraft to George Lucas and Tim Burton to Peter Jackson.
His name? Gustave Doré...
