The people of Lebanon are facing an increasingly dire humanitarian situation. I am concerned about the security and well-being of civilians suffering in Lebanon and will continue working to help meet the needs of all civilians there.

To that end, the United States will provide nearly $157 million in additional assistance to the people of Lebanon for essential needs such as food, shelter, water, protection, and sanitation to help those who have been displaced by the recent conflict. This additional support brings total U.S. assistance to Lebanon over the last year to over $385 million.

With Iran attacking Israel there is going to be warmongers from both sides seething at the mouth for the opportunity to get America involved with another global conflict and to send billions away to fund more war.

I’m not here to tell you how to think on the matter. The Middle East is possibly the most confusing geopolitical issue in the history of the world. There is rational perspectives from all sides and in my opinion it should terrify the entire world because I do not see a viable solution to the situation.

What I do know is there are Americans struggling right now and if I had to choose between funding a war where my tax dollars will be sent to blow innocent women and children to pieces or to Americans in need, the choice is simple in my mind.
