@natetepp @SouthwestAir Did you purchase Basic fare tickets? If so, the Basic fare is the least expensive because it comes with the fewest amenities. Seats are assigned by the airline. The seats that are assigned are what is left over after-usually middle seats in the back of the plane.

For example, if I have a middle of the plane aisle seat, I’ll switch seats for another middle of the plane, or for the front of the plane, aisle seat. I’m not giving up my seat for a worse seat.
