2020
Biden: 81 million votes
Trump: 74 million votes
2024
Trump: 71 million votes
Harris: 66 million votes
These numbers do not match up with either the empty Trump rallies or the packed Harris rallies, and she should definitely not too quickly concede.
Ummm.
Elon’s Twitter has shut down the @ElevenFilms account. They can’t comment, like or RT.
Can we get some air support?
RT and share the video Eleven Films just released: #DemocratsDefendDemocracy
Joe Biden had a single bad debate and the media excoriated him for weeks.
Trump holds an utterly unhinged “press conference” and they applaud him for showing up to lie to them.
Are they really doing this again?
Really really?
Are you fucking kidding me?
BREAKING: Lawrence O’Donnell just demolished Donald Trump for speaking for 60 minutes straight and telling a lie for every sentence he uttered. Everyone in the media needs to call out Trump’s BS. Retweet so all Americans see this vital video.
Yet another reminder from literacy experts that a rich array of strategies (and goals!) for beginning readers, supported by solid theory and research, looks nothing like the sterile phonics-focused regimen demanded by "Science of Reading" partisans: https://t.co/lWIoEhcdKg
“You wont have to vote” because “it will be fixed?” What does “fixed” mean? As in dogs? As in elections? As in Mafia “We have a problem?” Christians, ask for an exegesis.
As I've said before: 2024 is not an election where you get to vote for whether you want a Democrat or a Republican.
It's an election where you get to vote for whether or not you ever get to vote again.
If you're cool with large and fast-moving trends towards standardizing, centralizing and privatizing across public sectors, then it doesn't matter how we get there.
If you're not, then it does. #notaboutreading
"Of course we want every kid to learn phonics -- but in a way that won't destroy their love of books."
This terrific conversation touches on so many important points ignored by Science of Reading policies.

“Creating a rich and enjoyable literacy and language environment for children differs from organized, pressurized instruction, directly teaching letters and sounds, or sending a child online to learn, with serious before-and-after assessments.”
ICYMI: Too often, the invocation of “science” to defend traditionalist education reflects an agenda based more on ideology than on solid data. My new blog post: "The Siren Song of 'Evidence-Based' Instruction": https://t.co/MAcVzTD98p
I'm so grateful that so many brilliant educational minds are refuting the story that media and gullible followers spread using opinion as shallow justification. It makes me feel hopeful for brighter days ahead.

In education, use of terms ‘Evidence-based’ & ‘Science of…’ Raise 5 distinct questions for @alfiekohn :
“1. What kind of evidence?
2. Evidence of what?
3. Evidence of an effect on whom?
4. Evidence of an effect at what cost?
5. Does “evidence-based” refer to evidence at all?”
"One ironical consequence of the drive for so-called higher standards in schools is that the children are too busy to think."
-John Holt (more than 60 years ago)
What are the implications here? Wasn’t the heavy emphasis on synthetic phonics supposed to help Ts to support struggling readers?

"Much of the misunderstanding surrounding the 'science' of reading is related to a lack of understanding of science and the scientific process."

Two developmental truths we have messed up in modern schooling:
1- Young students should be focusing on play for much longer. We push academics too early.
2- Teens should be focusing on hard work and massive responsibility much earlier. We delay real work for too long.

Teachers have left the profession at record rates. America is currently short 300,000+ teachers….and it’s only getting worse.
NOW WHAT?
