Fatality Accident (Dallas) DPS Troopers and Dallas Fire Rescue are working a fatality accident involving a motorcyclist on westbound PGBT just west of the Dallas North Tollway. Initial information indicates a motorcycle and a vehicle were involved in a collision and there is one person deceased at the scene. Expect lane closures in this area - take another route!

I used to play golf. I never had a hole-in-one, but I’ve hit one from over 100 yards out, you can live on that for a very long time (at least if you’re crappy golfer like me).
@DallasTexasTV I couldn’t care less about a hotdog, but when I was in Chicago a few years ago, there was one across the street. I looked at their menu and found they had a chocolate cake shake., which to me sounded strange and incredible.
It’s delicious!!!
100%
Oh, and it should say:
Hell’s Front Porch which lasts from “Dear God, it’s here” to “I guess we are wearing lightweight halloween costumes this year….again”.
81 now in San Antonio. So, a friendly reminder or if you just moved to Texas, we have the "12 Seasons of Texas". You are now partaking in "Fool's Spring".
Most of this I agree with, but is also irrelevant for me.
Some of didn’t choose this career, it chose us. My parents bought me a computer in 1985 and I’ve never wanted to stop figuring them out. Apparently, I have a brain that was born to be a programmer.
Cons of being a software engineer no one really talks about 👇
Everyone sees the salaries, WFH perks, and fancy titles.
Here’s the other side:
• Your learning never ends
If you stop learning for even 6–12 months, you start falling behind. Tech doesn’t wait.
• Mental fatigue is real
Staring at screens, debugging for hours, context switching—your brain gets tired before your body.
• You’re judged by output, not effort
10 hours of hard thinking can look like “nothing” if the feature didn’t ship.
• Imposter syndrome never fully goes away
New stack, new company, smarter peers → constant self-doubt.
• Deadlines don’t care about bugs
Management promises dates. Engineers deal with reality.
• Work-life balance depends on the team, not the role
One bad manager can ruin a “dream job”.
• Rejections hit differently
You can be good and still fail interviews because of luck, timing, or niche questions.
• Side projects feel mandatory
To grow or switch jobs, your free time often becomes “resume time”.
• AI pressure is increasing
You’re expected to be faster, smarter, and more productive—constantly.
• Your worth can feel tied to your skills
When code breaks, confidence breaks with it.
Still a great career.
Just not the “easy money” path social media sells.
If you’re choosing this field—choose it with eyes open.
@Charlesgijv@DallasTexasTV I mean, it depends on the car, and you’re driving ability, but I’ve done 130 a couple of times. If you’re capable of doing it safely and are willing to pay the ticket, I could care less.
Just so you know, my wife is my absolute best friend, but I don’t love her because she’s like me. I love her because she’s different (and sometimes I just don’t get what she’s doing!).
