Are you willing to sacrifice your problems for solutions?
I’ll never forget reading a tweet one day by @EdLatimore
“When a person has made a problem part of their identity, they'll hate you for offering a solution.”
I stopped dead in my tracks.
There it was, the simple truth ladies and gents.
So much of why you struggle is because you're too smart. You know too much. In many ways, you were actually better positioned to succeed as the more ignorant, past version of yourself.
Relationships used to be a matter of just spending time with someone you felt good around. Now, it's a laundry list of traumas and signs of a healed inner child that you hyper analyze in everyone instead of simply seeing where it goes.
Making money used to be a matter of just helping someone with a problem. Now, it's surgical awareness of all the risks to watch out for that lurk in the back of your mind instead of simply seeing how it goes.
You may think it's saving you time, but it's actually the opposite. Nothing wastes more time than pondering from a place of protection, when you could've been moving forward. Two steps forward and one step back still puts you further from the start than not stepping foot at all.
Learn, but don't forget that life is supposed to be fun. Go back to flow. Be more lighthearted. Realize that nothing has to be that serious, and consequences are only as detrimental as you falsely assume in your head. You're always your own greatest enemy.
In the bad times, I yearn for the good times. I don't want to feel this helplessness anymore. I've been patient enough. Take my pain away. Give me stability. I need comfort. Certainty. Happiness.
In the good times, I miss the bad times. I haven't talked to you in a while, God. I look back on those quiet nights alone with paradoxical fondness. I loved getting to know myself. I crave to embody that humility again.
There's no good or bad times. It's all good and bad, all at once, and everything in between. It's life. Don't try to escape it. You're here, now, exactly where you're supposed to be, always.
Clearing out the noise of other people’s opinions and tuning in to your voice often means to learn to trust that you have your own best interest at heart.
