The cow is not competing with you for food. She eats the ninety percent you cannot.

Chatting to an interesting lady in Jersey airport. She’s a resident. She told me they don’t have a problem with boat migrants. When they encroach, fishing boats generally alert the police & they go out & simply turn them around. The very few that have got through are sent to Jersey Prison & deported.

She also told me that during Covid a big chunk of the Portuguese/Madeiran workers returned home leaving a big hole in the hospitality workforce.

Employees were sourced from Africa. They can only stay 9 months & then have to leave for 3 months before returning. They do not become resident & do not qualify for benefits.

If correct this seems to be a pragmatic & fair approach to immigration. Why can’t the U.K. learn from Jersey 🇯🇪? Hang on - Jersey is part of the U.K.

Today, the Court of Appeal heard from Philip Rule KC, James Tumbridge and the Chagossians' legal team.
This really is a David versus Goliath battle.
Earlier this year, the Chagossians won.
Instead of accepting that victory, the Labour Government chose to drag them back into court.
The Government may have an army of lawyers and King's Counsel funded by taxpayers' money, but the Chagossians have something far more powerful on their side:
Justice. Self-determination. The right to live in the homeland of their parents and grandparents.
The Chagossians overwhelmingly want their islands to remain British.
They overwhelmingly want the right to return home as British citizens.
Yet Labour continues to spend public money trying to defeat them in court.
How can a Government that claims to champion human rights deny the Chagossian people the most fundamental right of all – the right to determine their own future?
Tomorrow is the final day of the hearing.
We do not yet know whether the Court will deliver judgment immediately or reserve its decision for a later date, which could mean waiting weeks or even months.
Whatever happens, the Chagossians have shown extraordinary courage.
Tomorrow, the fight continues.

FINE MEMORIALS - Based in Bridgwater, Somerset

Well it's been nearly 2 weeks since I suggested to the Director of Fine Memorials, Ian Hale, that he should consider compensating my 2 young grandchildren for the distress caused by finding their Dads grave in the mess that Mr Hales company left it on June 18th.

Children visiting their Dads grave on Fathers Day to lay flowers shouldn't be confronted with a patch of bare earth due to an uncaring, disrespectful and callous decision to REMOVE a component part of the grave structure to use on another grave.

Yes, Mr Hale has offered to fund a memorial stone for my Sons grave (quote) "If the price is right" but I've told him I don't want the grave tainted by any further involvement from his company. The unsolicited, unauthorised and unethical attack on the grave is enough.

We will fund our own memorial tablet on the newly laid slab which replaces the one taken by Fine Memorials and used on another grave.

He has refused to engage with me regarding compensation for the children or making a donation to a mental health charity.

But this isn't a surprise to me.

I imagine the phrase "If the price is right" is very important to Mr Hale.

The web presence of Fine Memorials is littered with words like Respect, Compassion and Dignity. None of which were on display on June 18th.

I've scoured every page. I can't see the phrase "If the price is right" anywhere.

Maybe they only use this on special occasions. Such as when they get caught removing parts of graves to use as spare parts elsewhere in the cemetery.

Anyway, it looks like bad publicity is a "price" worth paying for Mr Hale.

I wouldn't have posted any of this if he hadn't put a price on it.
