@GergelyOrosz According to the FAQ, the point is to game the metrics https://t.co/OnXZgvGgg1 🤷♂️
Also, those metrics will most likely end up being used as ammunition for employee reviews and promotions where implemented
I cannot believe companies are using a tool like Pluralsight flow for sw engineers.
It measures targets like coding days, lines of code & target impact (whatever that is).
It's the definition of micromanagement. Good luck to anyone managed by this software. From an ad they run:
@mattklein123@github What's your take on systems such as Flow by PluralSight which give managers higher visibility via metrics such as Active Days?
Would those be fair to use for evaluation or is any metric based on github fundamentally wrong?

Folks, @github statistics ARE NOT A USEFUL PROXY FOR CONTRIBUTION AND PRODUCTIVITY.
If your performance evaluation and/or hiring process is taking this into consideration it is fundamentally broken. This is such a huge pet peeve of mine. 😠
@palacerte From the ones I've attended, in no particular order:
- Mental Health in Tech
- GitOps Best Practices
- Istio Multi-Cluster Service Mesh Pattern
- Extending Knative for Fun and Profit
I also have my eyes on eBPF but I feel like talks have only scratched the surface
Learning a lesson in horizontal scaling at #kubecon2019 - 1 escalator is not enough to get everyone from Hall 8.0 to Hall 6/7
The talks and discussions are amazing though!
Best discovery of the day from @birdsaiview: Kui, a project from IBM to make the kubectl experience better (and prettier😊). https://t.co/Bx4SEiAbsI #KubeCon2019
@palacerte Those damn kid watching other people play games instead of playing it themselves!
Now excuse me while I go watch people playing soccer on TV!
