Dear @AshwiniBhide@mybmc - this is to being to your attention that your officials have been telling the locals that I asked for demolition of a temple. This is dubious- they watched the illegal reconstruction done in the past week at top speed! They have also watched the entire pavement on this narrow being totally encroached without action. My complaint has been on a larger issue. This dangerous dog whistle is entirely the work of @mybmcWardGS and I want to put it here in the public domain. It smacks of endemic corruption and vested interest!! @MumbaiPolice@CPMumbaiPolice please note.
THE SYSTEM WILL MUZZLE INDIA’S FOOD POLICEMAN – TUKARAM MUNDHE. DON’T LET IT.
Tukaram Mundhe stands between us and a silently bubbling health crisis.
Had Tukaram Mundhe not stood up to the powerful 5-star, celebrity restaurant, corporate food chain and dark store lobby, we wouldn’t have known just how much unsafe and adulterated food can enter the food chain.
In case you’re wondering, Mundhe is the Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Maharashtra. Over the past few weeks, his relentless drive against unhygienic food vendors has led to raids on restaurants, major food chains and 86 quick-commerce hubs. The raids have uncovered serious hygiene and food-safety violations. Four Domino’s and one Pizza Hut outlet were shut after FDA inspections found, among other things, grease residue, insect infestations and food products without proper expiry information.
Then came the dark stores. The FDA suspended 14 food licences linked to Blinkit, Zepto and Instamart outlets after inspections found violations including cockroaches and expired food.
In Maharashtra’s crackdown on milk adulteration, FDA inspections detected the dilution of milk with water and the manufacture of synthetic milk using urea, detergents and formalin.
In Pune, FDA raids seized suspected adulterated khoya, paneer, cheese analogue and ghee worth ₹47.36 lakh, with 35 samples sent for laboratory testing.
The food being delivered to your home for your kids can be sitting in a warehouse where cockroaches and rodents have access to it or might even be chemical food.
This is why what Tukaram Mundhe is doing matters.
But Mundhe is doing what Mundhe does best.
This 2005-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Maharashtra cadre, widely known as a strict, fearless and anti-corruption bureaucrat, is often dubbed a real-life “Singham”. This is a testament to his rigid adherence to rules, zero-tolerance approach to corruption and willingness to confront the system. But he has paid a big price.
Mundhe has been transferred 25 times in 21 years of service.
And there is now an apprehension that he might be muzzled once again.
Because the pushback has begun.
The courts have questioned the proportionality and procedure of some of the FDA’s actions. The Bombay High Court recently criticised the FDA over action against Cadila Pharmaceuticals, observing that it had effectively used a “sword to kill a mosquito” after the agency seized medicines worth ₹2.4 crore without prior notice. The FDA subsequently agreed to withdraw its orders and issue show-cause notices, allowing the company an opportunity to be heard.
In another case, the Bombay High Court directed the FDA to pay ₹5 lakh to a Pune dairy and sweet shop after its licence remained suspended despite the establishment subsequently achieving 98% compliance with food-safety requirements.
The courts are right to insist that regulators follow due process.
But here is the question the rest of us must ask:
Does due process mean going soft on food-safety violations?
Mundhe should not be above the law. But neither should the food industry. Don’t curb the man because he has had the temerity to enforce the law.
Instead, stand up for him because he is standing up for us.
The best way to get rid of these illegal political banners is to add graffiti to them. If we add moustaches and beards to their ugly mugs, then politicians will be scared to put them up because they don't want to be ridiculed.
Does this make sense?
@grok
Middle class earns.
Middle class pays.
But what does the middle class get back? 🤔
Bad roads.
Air pollution.
Toxic water.
Corruption.
Time to AXE THE PERSONAL INCOME TAX for Salaried Middle Class till we get WORLD CLASS FACILITIES.

I want to fund a website where people can share photos of illegal political banners. These would be automatically geotagged and an email sent to the local anti-encroachment officer. I am fed up of these eyesores !
Daily commuters to BKC are being systematically exploited by share-auto drivers!
📍 Prescribed Fare: ₹30
💸 Extorted Fare: ₹40–₹50
🛑 Signal jumping, creating jams, & on-duty police officer "Sonvane" says "nothing can be done"!Strict action needed against this extortion! @DGPMaharashtra@MumbaiPolice #AutoRikshaw
If #FDA employees are applying for VRS, because they are finally being asked to do their job, instead of turning a blind eye to fake, expired, adulterated food and medicine then it is a GOOD thing. Editors should give perspective to young journalists. Read the mood on Maharashtra! The public is happy with @Tukaram_IndIAS ‘s actions!! Check your messages! This is for @TheMumbaiMirror today! I am sure others will follow! After all the manufacturer ans restaurant sector has big advertising bucks and other goodies to distribute! Let’s campaign for better food on our plates!
They need to take a walk in the police colony at Worli Pochkhanawala road- they can get at least 50 cars with such plates kept on the dashboard (not stickers) who are we kidding @MumbaiPolice@CPMumbaiPolice ?
Welcome to Mumbai:
Where a musical road is deemed "too noisy" for the elite, but a hazardous, ugly wall of plastic guards is considered perfectly acceptable infrastructure.
Masterclass in problem-solving.
👏👏
Jai Ho.

Triple Engine Government!
PM: BJP ✅
CM: BJP ✅
Mayor: BJP ✅
Yet the roads of Mira-Bhayandar are full of potholes, broken stretches, & daily misery for commuters.
Citizens continue to suffer on dangerous, pothole-ridden roads. Where is our Tax money & Vikas?
@CMOMaharashtra
Tragic. This can happen to any of us. It is Luck that is protecting us from our Municipal Bodies.
They may think they can escape forever given the entrenched nexus they are part of.
One day they will have to answer to a Higher Authority.
Madness and greed has no limit. The man who proposed this needs to be in prison, if he is of sane mind. Otherwise needs help.
To even think of proposing that Sanjay Gandhi National Park can have university and housing for 5 lakh people!
What’s this obsession with environment vandalism? What’s this hate for our planet?
We Mumbaikars don’t want it! Don’t touch our forests and ruin our city.
Having covered Mumbai’s infrastructure for years, the recent Bandra East Garibnagar clearance feels less like a sudden victory and more like a stark reminder of a decades-old crisis.
The first serious attempt to clear slums on govt land was back in the late nineties, when the BJP-Sena govt removed encroachments along the Harbour line tracks. As a reporter for the Times group, I actually travelled inside the train cabin with the motorman, thanks to Mukul Marwah, the then CPRO, to witness firsthand the horrifying operational challenges Central Railway faced daily.
While the Garibnagar demolition is a welcome step, we cannot simply cheer the cleanup without exposing why it happened in the first place. For decades, a ruthless corporator-neta-babu nexus has made millions by exploiting these slumdwellers and weaponising public space. Even today, the Harbour Line remains a chaotic mess, airport lands are heavily choked, and prime government properties across the city stay aggressively encroached.
This structural rot is the direct product of institutional civic corruption. Mumbaikars have not voted for seasonal clearance drives; they voted for an iron hand to smash this systemic betrayal. It is time to look past the bulldozers, expose the entire administrative cartel, and send them to jail. Mumbai needs visible consequences.
Reposting this video: Nepo kid Dharmendra Pradhan ji should be sacked for the NEET paper leak! He is so incompetent that he Presided over the Education ministry even in 2024 when the NEET exam papers were leaked & btw none of the top bosses from NTA or National Testing Agency were acted against then. In my opinion the NTA should be renamed as NO TRUST AGENCY! But just Imagine nepo child Dharmendra Pradhan ji still continues to thrive as Education Minister while 22.79 lakh students face hardships after running the career of millions of students in 2024!!
Nearly two years after the deadly Pune Porsche crash that killed a young IT engineer, the victim’s mother has once again expressed frustration over the pace of justice in the case. Speaking emotionally, she said her family “lost everything” in the tragedy while claiming that no real consequences have been faced by the accused so far.
The high-profile case had sparked nationwide outrage after a 17-year-old allegedly rammed a Porsche car into two IT professionals in Pune. The juvenile accused, along with both parents, was later granted bail by the court. The victim’s mother said legal proceedings are ongoing, but the family still feels helpless and uncertain about the future of the case.

Prominent Pune activist Vinita Deshmukh has strongly objected to the naming of a newly constructed cancer hospital in Baner after Yashwantrao Bhimale, father of BJP corporator Shrinath Bhimale. In a video statement, Deshmukh urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to remove the current signboard and officially rename the facility as “Baner Cancer Hospital” before its inauguration scheduled on May 16.
Deshmukh questioned the connection of the Bhimale family to the Baner area and criticised what she described as the growing trend of naming public infrastructure after politicians or their relatives despite being funded through taxpayers’ money. The issue has now sparked debate over political influence in naming civic projects.
