@davidgandler As a substantial shareholder who has sustained grievous losses since the Venu announcement, I want to thank you, @davidgandler, for staying the course and believing that this litigation was worth the investment. Bravo!!
The settlement is a huge win for Michigan; it gets them out from under a serious sanction against the program by the conference, which might in turn recommend that the NCAA end its probe. (1/2)
Realistically, @UMich has little chance of securing injunctive relief re the @CoachJim4UM suspension. Courts are loath to intervene in league decision-making processes. As much as I'd like to him reinstated for tomorrow's game, I'm not optimistic.
#RogerGoodell will increase the length of #DeShaunWatson’s suspension because the CBA sets a baseline suspension of six games for “sexual assault…against someone incapable of giving consent.” In other words, the conduct doesn’t have to be violent. Robinson found an assault.
People are misunderstanding the #DeShaunWatson decision. The case was decided by a hearing officer and #RogerGoodell would hear any appeal but would be limited to the issue of punishment. The league does need to appeal, if only to address the justifiable outrage from women.
Why is @UMichFootball behind the curve in recruiting? The answer is in three letters: NIL. Nearly every other top CFP contender offers in-house support for player marketing. U-M offers bupkis. @CoachHarb, if you want to contend for titles please hire an NIL director!

The colonies became "married" in 1776. But partners grow and change. And perhaps that marriage is irretrievably broken. Maybe the coasts and parts of the Midwest need to have a "consensual" breakup with the South, Plains and Mntn. West. Far-fetched? Not! #americandivorce
At first blush, the @ClevelandBrowns contract with @deshaunwatson would appear to be most lopsided, player-friendly deal in league history. But the Browns may have given themselves an "out". Here's how they might call an audible on the deal.

Thanks @dehirsch1 for a fantastic Zoom interview today. Danielle's incomparable perspective on pro-se litigation will be among the highlights of my upcoming book, "Raising the Bar: How Courts, the Legal Profession and Law Schools Can Better Serve Self-Represented Litigants".
@ronklain
should get much of the blame for the underachieving first year of the
@JoeBiden term . The chief of staff frames the agenda and he swung for the fences on voting rights and Build Back Better, lacking a basis for believing he could hit a home run. Time for him to go.
@Fahrenthold@nytimes How about looking into the tax status of big-time college sports programs. Their income goes untaxed. Has the higher ed lobby permanently won that battle?
As an ex-sports writer i'm cautious about using superlatives but I've been racking my brain to remember a game in any sport that was more epic than Chiefs-Bills las night. #NFLPlayoffs
If @SenatorSinema thinks she can stomp with impunity on voting rights, she might think twice if the @azdemparty lets her know that it will openly recruit candidates to run against her in 2024. #synema#FilibusterReform
Some tough love for @MSNBC from a loyal viewer: Your network is becoming 1/6 for 24/7. That's narrowcasting. Yes, 1/6 was horrific, but 11/2/22 portends as a watershed moment for our democracy. And you're not paying attention to it. I'm turning you off.
@LumberghFukter@DumasMike You need your head examined. The Lions were a razor thin margin away from going 7-10 with what nearly every objective evaluator claimed was the thinnest talent in the league.
Why does @POTUS insist on giving addresses to the nation in mid-afternoon instead of prime time as prior presidents have done? Don't you think the cable and broadcast networks would have given him a few minutes tonight given the exigencies triggered by Omicron? #OmicronVariant
Here's all you need to know about the @ABA's disregard for access-to-justice issues; to submit a business pitch for Startup Alley at @ABATECHSHOW, your business must be geared for lawyers and not consumers. Shameful. The bar needs to do more to address the pro se crisis.
