@kaitlancollins Now in every instances a sub-contractor does something illegal or shady the DOJ (or any government agency) has precedent to owe billions.
In autocracies, it’s not that the system is corrupt—there’s some corruption in every system—it’s that corruption *becomes* the system. Personal deals, no public oversight, privatize the profits and nationalize the expenses. Putinization.
🧵Yesterday, a Vance-aligned group called the Bull Moose Project posted this viral picture of an old farmhouse on sprawling acreage, purporting to illustrate how once-common rural housing became unaffordable in the United States.
I did some digging into the photo...
@propublica@DougBockClark We also reveal a previously unreported moment from 2020 that protected the outcome of that election, in which career experts helped Attorney General William Barr realize both the truth of the election and that telling it to the president would almost certainly cost him his job.
@KobeissiLetter @Texas18362 Trump’s tariffs were a mistake. They kept inflation elevated and economic growth stunted. Only to have them overturned… after businesses raised prices on consumers (which they rarely lower back down). No refund checks. No paying down the debt. What a missed opportunity.
So let me get this straight…
•$40 billion spent
•300+ Americans wounded
•Over a dozen killed
•Oil prices doubled
•U.S. bases severely damaged
And what do we get?
Iran keeps its uranium.
No nuclear deal.
The Strait of Hormuz still unstable.
And the world sees us as weaker, not stronger.
Sounds about right for a Trump deal.
Of all the things that have surprised me about Americans’ reactions to Trump, this probably surprises me the most: the relatively passive response to his grotesque, perfectly open corruption of the office.
Lindsey Graham. What are you doing? ⬇️
This morning you’re out there talking about blowing people up like you just had four espressos and no sleep. You sound unhinged.
You are embarrassing yourself and you are embarrassing this country.
Take a tranquilizer. Take a five minute break from Fox News. Please.
Maybe the theocracy is a genuine threat to the region and there’s a legitimate military argument to be made.
But you sound like a nut. And when you sound like a nut, nobody takes the argument seriously — even if the argument has merit.
There’s a difference between being hawkish and being unhinged.
Lindsey Graham needs to know that difference.
Just a reminder that one of the big scandals of the Obama years was that a few government employees indulged in $16 muffins at a conference. Like, there was literally a DOJ IG investigation. The below? Won't even be a story by tomorrow.
@elonmusk Grok is, what, #5/6 in the AI game? Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT and Meta get the mindshare and the revenue.
And you sued Apple cause you couldn’t win their business.
Grok isn’t even mentioned in most/all conversation about corporate AI. But yea, you can tweak an answer. Woohoo
@allenanalysis OpenAI analysis of mentions in the Epstein files. Trumps #1 “civilian” by far and the only non-Epstein employees in the “Top 5”. @mtgreenee - maybe that is why he blocked it.
