Commentary on the Actions of Boebert, Gaetz, and Santos:
The recent revelations surrounding Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz, and George Santos are deeply concerning and have the potential to undermine the very foundations of American democracy. Their alleged admission to intentionally keep America shut down through the next election cycle is not only a betrayal of the public trust but also a direct threat to the nation's stability and prosperity.
1. Undermining Democratic Processes: By admitting to a goal of keeping America shut down through the next election, these individuals are effectively admitting to undermining the democratic processes that the country holds dear. Elections are a cornerstone of American democracy, and any attempt to manipulate or disrupt them is a grave threat to the nation's core values.
2. Economic Implications: A prolonged shutdown would have severe economic consequences. Millions of Americans would face job losses, businesses would suffer, and the overall economy could enter a recession. Such a move would be detrimental to the well-being of countless citizens.
3. Foreign Policy Concerns: The mention of keeping money flowing to Ukraine raises questions about the motivations behind such a strategy. Using foreign policy as a tool for domestic political gain is not only unethical but also jeopardizes America's standing on the global stage.
4. Fueling Mistrust: Such actions and intentions sow deep divisions and mistrust among the American populace. This apparent coup attempt threatens the very fabric of our nation, polarizing communities and making it increasingly challenging for the country to unite and confront its challenges.
5. Accountability: It's essential for elected officials to be held accountable for their actions. If these allegations are accurate, it's crucial for the appropriate legal and political mechanisms to be employed to ensure that those involved face the consequences of their actions.
In conclusion, the actions and statements attributed to Boebert, Gaetz, and Santos, if true, represent a significant threat to the United States' democratic principles and overall well-being. It's imperative for the nation to address such challenges head-on and ensure that its democratic processes remain intact and uncorrupted.
I see a lot of right-leaning accounts claiming that there is all sorts of 'Evidence' that Joe Biden is "corrupt" and then pointing to Devon Archer's testimony. Here's Archer's testimony that Republicans are leaving out:
Matthew Swartz: Are you aware of any wrongdoing by Vice President Biden?
Devon Archer: No I'm not aware of any.
Matthew Schwartz: The report also found "no evidence that any action of the U.S. Government or any US official was taken to benefit Burisma or Hunter Biden. Do you have any evidence or knowledge that contradicts this conclusion?
Devon Archer: No.
Matthew Schwartz: So based on everything you saw, heard and observed, did you have any knowledge of Joe Biden having involvement with Burisma?
Devon Archer: No, not direct, no.
Matthew Schwartz: No involvement of Joe Biden?
Devon Archer: No.
FACTS MATTER!
US Judge Beryl Howell’s 8/30/23 ruling against Rudy Giuliani belongs in every law school course on Federal Civil Procedure. It’s a Master Class in bringing Rules of Discovery and Evidence to life in the service of justice, decency, and fairness. Read it!!

The RNC has set up centers to woo Black voters.
Meanwhile, they won’t pardon us for minor weed offenses.
They won’t hold police accountable for brutalizing us.
They will suppress our vote unless it’s a vote for them.
They think AP African American Studies lack value.
We cannot discuss systemic racism or even mention the word race in a class.
Books that make racists uncomfortable get banned.
Affirmative Action they say is unfair to white people, however, legacy placement continues to be a thing.
Republicans want to woo Black people with lies while ignoring and minimizing our experiences. #FreshWords
When I see the many cowardly GOP presidential candidates who refuse to directly confront or criticize trump, it gives me a huge amount of respect for witnesses like Cassidy Hutchinson who told all, and Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger who served on the January 6th Commission.
I might disagree with their politics, but I respect their courage standing up to trump.
Vice President Biden was famously caught on a hot mic at the signing of Obamacare saying that it was a “big f-ing (but the full word) deal.” I think he can say the same thing about the Inflation Reduction Act celebrating its one-year anniversary today.
Why do Republicans complain so much about "wokeness" and critical race theory?
Because they don't want you to notice they’re rigging the economy for the benefit of their wealthy donors.
Conservatives' "Project 2025:"
-- Block expansion of electrical grid for wind/solar
-- Slash EPA's environmental justice office
-- Prevent states from adopting CA's car pollution standard
-- Eliminate multiple DOE energy offices involved in clean energy

The Fifth Amendment is about to come up a lot, so let's recap what it does and doesn't apply to:
- You cannot be forced to testify against yourself.
- You are required to testify against others (short of spousal privilege, attorney client privilege etc).
Where it gets tricky: if you and another person commit a crime together. If you testify against them, you're also testifying against yourself, so you can't be forced to do this.
In such case prosecutors can give you limited immunity for your testimony, meaning it can't be used against you, meaning you now have to testify against the other person.
Even if Meadows didn't have an immunity deal, he was still required by law to testify about every Trump crime that he witnessed but didn't participate in. Which is why it was no surprise that Meadows testified; if he'd refused to, the courts would have hauled him off for contempt.
The only thing an immunity deal would change is that Meadows' testimony would be broadened and would include crimes that Meadows and Trump committed together.
In another example, Jack Smith just subpoenaed Steve Bannon to testify about 1/6. Bannon is required to show up and testify about every crime he witnessed but didn't participate in. The Fifth Amendment only shields you from incriminating *yourself.*
If Smith is investigating crimes that Bannon and Trump committed together, Smith would need to give Bannon limited immunity for those topics in order to get Bannon to testify about those crimes.
Remember, Trump is the big fish in this probe, meaning he's the only fish. Prosecutors don't love giving immunity to criminals. But they will give immunity to as many small and medium fish as necessary in order to nail the big fish. Organized crime prosecutions always go like this. They had to give Sammy the bull Gravano a free pass in order to put his boss John Gotti in prison. It's just how it works.
Any immunity deals that come out, you should celebrate them. It'll mean the odds of Trump being convicted at trial just went up.
“Twice this week, I have watched an elderly individual, fade into the busy life in which we all live. One man just needed Panadol for his wife but the shop assistant simply said it’s in aisle ‘6’. But he struggled to navigate the supermarket and as I watched him go in the wrong direction, I left all my groceries and took him where he needed to go.
Today, I watched an elderly man struggle in the heat, who had obviously had a fall with a huge scrape and blood on his leg. He walked past people in the cafe, while he slowly made his way to his car. Not one person stopped. Or looked. Or acknowledged him. I took him to his car and checked he was ok. He told me he had a fall and wasn’t sure how the air con worked in his car so he just didn’t use it. I sat with him, until his air con kicked in and heard him talk about the old frail body that he is in, that fails him now, every single day.
When you see an elderly person walking down the street, searching in the supermarket or struggling to their car, take a minute out of your busy schedule and ask them if they need a hand. Think about your grand parents and your parents and how pissed you would be if someone didn’t stop to help them. But more, think of them as you.
Once upon a time they were you. They were busy, they had work, they had children, they were able.... Today, they are just in an older body that is not going as fast as it used to and this busy life is confusing. They deserve our utmost respect and consideration. One day it will be you, it will be us. I wish more people gave a sh*t about them and acknowledged them for their admirable existence and geez I hope someday, not that far away, someone does it for me.”
