I intervened in last week's Westminster Hall debate about a visa scheme for Palestinian refugees, which highlighted that it is currently impossible for relatives in Gaza to apply to rejoin family members in the UK.

The Household Support Fund, enabling local Councils to deliver local welfare assistance, has been vitally important since it was introduced in October 2021. At the moment, it is due to close at the end of March. It must be extended at the Budget into the new financial year.

Today in Parliament I called on the Government to extend the Household Support Fund - enabling cash-strapped Councils to support the hardest-pressed families in their area - beyond 31 March. Good cross party support in the debate.
