In November 2022, the Ontario Legislature unanimously supported my #keiraslaw motion aimed at keeping Ontario women and children safe.

History was made when Bill 102, Strengthening Safety and Modernizing Justice Act, 2023 was passed, mandating training on gender-based Intimate partner violence and coercive control for provincial court judges and justices of the peace.

As my Motion set out this education must extend to crown attorneys, custody assessors, social workers and any other family court professionals to ensure the same education and training for all those in the family court system dealing with intimate partner and gender-based violence.

Thank you to Dr. Jennifer Kagan (@forlittlekeira) for highlighting the need for further work to keep women and children safe.
