@RobertBurns82 It's less about political stance and more that states have to fund their own exhibits... We don't have a budget. It's fiscally conservative to not spend money that isn't allocated.
Wait, isn't fiscal conservatism supposed to be the Republican thing? You mad he agrees with you?
@DeplorablePrid2@KevinEWDaniels@RobertBurns82 But in his "effort" to "film men", what he actually did was film minors in a restroom. See how this "solution" is actually the greater harm to more, and more vulnerable, people?
@mattvanswol You're pining for an analog childhood that doesn't exist. This has zero to do with offenders and everything to do with the rise in technology and loss of third places.
FWIW, my kids still hop on bikes, have water fights, and stay out till streetlights. In Charlotte.
@RobertBurns82 If you're going to do this, can we all humbly request that your council focuses far less on sanctity of life, and more on quality. Ableism, not abortion, is the barrier. We need more social safety nets, more support, more accomodations -- as parents and for individuals with IDD
@mattvanswol To answer your question more directly:
It would be unamerican and antithetical to the ideals of this country to prevent anyone from holding office for exercising their First Amendment Rights. You cannot compel patriotic speech.
Yes, you should still be able to hold office.
@mattvanswol WV State Board of Education v. Barnette: "If there is any fixed star in our constitutional constellation, it is that no official... can prescribe what shall be orthodox in politics, nationalism, religion..."
Compelled speech, especially to serve in office, is entirely unamerican
@momomcares2016@libsoftiktok@Delta@grok Also, FMLA is unpaid family medical leave... No matter what, FMLA for ALL circumstances (cancer, birth, caring for family such as a newborn, therapy, etc.) caps at 12 weeks. It's not parental leave. There's zero thing as protected paid parental leave in the USA.
@momomcares2016@libsoftiktok@Delta@grok Not wrong. You understand that Delta's Maternity and Parental leave policy is in addition to FMLA, not a change to it? Right? No matter what, as long as you qualify, you get FMLA. You can also get additional paid leave, according to Delta's benefits plan, as a Delta employee.
@Cherie1776@MargoinWNC Retiring as a Major after 25 years is remarkably unremarkable. Your dad's career isn't a control group for every officer who ever served. Retiring as a Major is common, especially for prior-enlisted officers. That's not evidence of a scandal. It's evidence of a military career.
@Guy25Rando12987@greendragonhq@libsoftiktok@Delta Except, in a same-sex couple, "mother" would entitle both women to 12 weeks, whereas a man in the same situation only gets 2 weeks. To avoid illegal sex-based discrimination, birthing/non-birthing makes a clear distinction based on medical necessity instead of on sex alone.
@momomcares2016@libsoftiktok@Delta Exactly. "Maternity", as a word, is the period of time during and shortly after giving birth. The extended leave is for the medical recovery of the birthing mother, not the newborn.
You are, however, entitled to two weeks of parental leave, as a non-birthing parent.
@libsoftiktok@Delta Because the phrase "non birthing parents" also provides benefits to adoptive parents or parents using a surrogate, regardless of gender, while "birthing parents" acknowledges the unique medical recovery of giving birth. All while being legally clear and concise.
@RobertBurns82 It's deeply ironic to me that you talk about politicians ignoring their constituents... When you've ignored half of your city the whole time you've served as Mayor, and ALL of Monroe since your censure. Remember, half the votes were for your opponent. You won on a coin flip.
@RobertBurns82 Out of curiosity, since I work long hours, raise a family, serve my commy, and am trying to build a better future... Would you be willing to sit and talk to me, to listen even? Or do you only do this in an echo chamber?
@MargoinWNC An H1B is a form of Temporary Residency Visa, where non-immigrant residency is granted alongside the right to work. In addition to that, they pay State Taxes the same as you. Why shouldn't they benefit from their tax contribution as long as they are here, residing, paying taxes?
@nickpuglia NC wrote protections into the deal. VinFast stumbled. NC is using the protections.
Sounds less like "dropped the ball" and more like "wrote the contract."
"The state can reclaim the land" isn't evidence of failure. It's evidence Cooper planned ahead.
@KerryHu26145617@Zarish5062 Nope. Abortion is "the termination of pregnancy through expulsion of the embryo or fetus". In technicality, induced labor is ALSO an abortive procedure. Viability is irrelevant to the procedure definition.
@HeatRaceHero@libsoftiktok Considering that the average SNAP benefit is $188 per person per month...
$400 would be ridiculously high and unrealistic.
Investigating and prosecuting SNAP fraud generally costs $3.72 for every $1 lost to fraud. So, do the math on those numbers....
