@alicia_agnoli@JAMA_current Hi, PCP here. Can we talk about what stable means? Periodic appropriate urine drug screen = stable? No other controlled substance prescriptions? No SUD? Thank you for doing this research and sharing!
YES! Mortality rate for pts after ED visit for non-fatal opioid OD is 1% at 30d. For reference, 30d mortality ~2% for NSTEMI. Imagine observing then DCing a post-NSTEMI pt w/o PCI, ASA, or BB w/ untreated HTN and no f/u. This is the care pts w/ life-threatening OUD get every day.
@ml_barnett@JAMA_current@tamarabeetham@BrendanSaloner @DrSarahWakeman My son was forced to wean off bupe in rehab because the half way house wouldn’t take him on it. He was dead of an overdose within 30 days. Buried him 7/30/20. I will never quit telling his story
