Dear Okwudili,
Thank you for your feedback. It would help if you tried to distinguish between Arabic and Islam. Arabic as a language and script or writing predates Islam and is not synonymous with Islam. Christians have been using Arabic for millennia. Abraham himself was from modern-day Syria. He did not speak Hebrew. Hebrew and Arabic as languages came after Abraham. The language spoken in modern-day Syria is Arabic.
Arab Christians existed before the prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was born, and they spoke and wrote in Arabic.
Arabic is a language and a script. In Pakistan, they do not speak Arabic. They speak Urdu. But Urdu has no written script. So, they adapted the Arabic script into Nastaliq, which is what they use to write Urdu.
It is precisely the same thing with Hausa. Hausa does not have a script. So, they adapted Arabic into Ajami and used that to write in Hausa.
What you see on the Naira is Ajami, not Arabic. And it is Ajami in Hausa. So they are writing 'fifty Naira, one hundred Naira', etc, in Hausa, using Ajami. What is written on the Naira has nothing to do with Islam.
You mentioned Dollar. Are you aware that the United States borrowed the currency called Dollar from its Spanish neighbours? Please fact-check me. Dollar is now accepted into English. But it is not an English word. It was first used in Spanish-speaking countries in 1497.
To carry everyone along, both English and Spanish-speaking Americans, the United States adopted the Spanish Dollar as its official currency on April 2, 1792 and English as its official language. It was a compromise. That way both Spanish and English speakers are happy.
You asked me if another African country uses Arabic on their currency. Please fact-check me. In the Central African Republic, 73% of its population is Christians. Muslims only make up 14%. Muslims are in the minority.
Nevertheless, because a small minority of their population (less than 5%) can only read and write in the Arabic script, this overwhelmingly Christian country includes pure Arabic script in their currency (please see attached).
Yet, you are saying that Nigeria, with more than 20% of our population only being able to read in Arabic or Ajami, should omit Ajami in her currency? Are you aware that the population of Nigerians who can read in only Ajami and Arabic is more than the population of the entire Southeast?
Even Israel, your 'country of origin', has Arabic in its currency. Please fact-check me. If Israel gives you guys citizenship as Jews, which your leader has been lobbying for, will you people go there and make trouble for them over Arabic on their money?
Whatever you and your leader plan for me is okay by me. If God chooses that I should die by your hands, so be it. Something must kill a man. My settled conviction is that you and your leader can only do to me what God permits.
Thanks again, and may God bless you.
