I write about Canadian politics like it actually matters.
Quebec-based. Conservative-minded. Zero spin.
Follow for insight with edge; the sarcasm is free.
Too many posts are mistaking ideological purity for courage. Calls to 'eradicate' the other side are not brave; they are delusional. A functioning country needs the full spectrum. You cannot erase a part of society and call it virtue. Choose both/and, not either/or.
Floor crossing in Canada is not just a procedural oddity. It is a stress test for our democracy. We claim to elect individuals. We behave as if we elect jerseys. And when an MP switches sides, we find out which belief wins.

"Every city wants lower taxes, better services, and less debt. Any two are possible. All three are not."
Local politics isn’t about ideology. It’s about trade-offs and honesty about what they cost.

Canadians are saying it clearly: keep the post public, make it reliable and affordable. They’ll even settle for fewer delivery days. If voters can compromise, why can’t Canada Post and CUPW?
Accountability needs two inputs: transparent KPIs and funded maintenance. A small annual hit is acceptable only if it buys fewer outages and faster repairs. Break out the walking shoes, just in case. This is Montreal: plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.
If we are paying more, tie it to quarterly results Montrealers can see: fewer outage minutes, more buses available, smaller repair backlogs. That starts with funded maintenance: tracks, signalling, fleets, parts, staffed work windows.
Ottawa runs 4 eco-home programs (+1 legacy), split between NRCan & CMHC. Different rules, different portals. Put dollars into homes, not paperwork: one front door, one EnerGuide file, standardized proofs, pay for results. Less bureaucracy, more retrofits. #cdnpoli#Retrofits
Ottawa’s bid to hobble the notwithstanding clause might be the rare file that unites Quebec left to right. We can debate when to use s.33. What we won’t accept is Ottawa deciding if we can. #cdnpoli#polqc
The Left liked Cancel Culture until it was their turn at the guillotine. The catch: it’s faction-friendly, fact-averse, and mercy-free. Let’s upgrade to restorative accountability: repair damage, raise standards, and save penalties for repeat offenders. #cdnpoli#CancelCulture
Freeland's exit isn’t the retreat some imagine. Her leadership bid is over; Ukraine is her audition for World Bank/EBRD, sovereign funds, mega-projects, and the keynote circuit. Follow the money; she certainly is. #cdnpoli#Geopolitics
