The drop in test scores received more attention than the school shooting in St Louis this week. We must not allow violence to be normalized or allow educators to be blamed for the vast unmet needs of so many kids.
Hey there I’m in need of assistance getting ready for my first year in elementary. If you can share or purchase please help me out. All children deserve a welcoming classroom space. https://t.co/ePHidsMfTm
Uvalde is a largely Latino community. At a press conference earlier today about the shooting, authorities said nothing in Spanish and did not address any Spanish-speaking journalists.
@John19860291@borgposting How tf do you get to tell Black folks how to feel about the emancipation of their ancestors from such a horrid instiand Walmart chooses to commerate it by once again profiting off of the pain and work of Black folks. You can kma with this bs statement.
@Areya28829696 @malika_imani Or we could stop the bullshit capitalism and arbitrary concepts that keep people impoverished. If the case you made were so simple, most people wouldn’t have children and then what we diminish and then that would be an issue like dang.
I used to make weekly announcements stating how there wasn't anything equitable in our vaccination approach.
We will continue to have new variants until we take an equitable approach to vaccinating the world.
Some counties have boosters while some await first doses.
I’m on a zoom call and two of my black colleagues have the same surname. My white colleague thought it was amusing to ask “oh are you two related? Haha” until one of them said “nah but our ancestors probably worked the same plantation” and now everyone is sitting in silence. 🥲
@jmacmcgrady@jkirk___ Let go of the idea you need to control. Build strong rapport and boundaries. They will respect and as middle schoolers there will be times when they test them, meet them with empathy but also hold your boundary.
My face when educators are willing to discuss and prep their students for an active shooter drill but aren’t willing to discuss the racism that Black people experience in America. How are they too young to learn about racism & guns but not too young for an active shooter drill?
