In 2026, most online businesses are still operating at Level 1 or 2 of the Automation Maturity Pyramid. They have a few triggers. Things mostly run.

But when we dig deeper, the pattern is consistent:
→ Automations are point-to-point (A → B)
→ They require regular manual checks
→ Failures go unnoticed for hours or days
→ Scaling means adding more zaps, not fewer moving parts

And they’re paying for it - in lost time, tighter margins, and constant operational chaos.

True automation maturity looks different:
• Systems self-correct or alert before breakdowns
• Data flows bidirectionally (not just one-way pipes)
• Decisions are triggered by combined signals, not single events
• Adding a new channel or tool doesn’t mean rebuilding everything

So I broke the entire journey down into 5 clear stages.
