Land speculators succeeded in removing the study of Political Economy from economics syllabuses by 1950๐๏ธ. So why be surprised when societies can afford less and less when our #LocationRent is misnamed private capital? And not just France.

Don't get me wrong, I think #InheritanceTax is a bad tax, should be abolished. It mixes up taxing products of work & capital which should not be taxed, with the rents of land that no individual or family creates and should rightly be collected by the community as a #singletax
Q. Why was taxing work, employment, trade, innovation, capital investment, materials, equipment and desired improvements of all kinds ANATHEMA to the Classical Economists?
A. These taxes reduce output, cap prosperity and pour all but the dregs into the coffers of #Freeriders. ๐ดโโ ๏ธ
Land would be more accessible to people if it was for rent at market rather than for sale.
Use the rent that's paid for society's needs and poverty is eradicated.

What is a site's #AnnualGroundRent?
The sum payable to the Community for exclusive title in the absence of tax on wages/trade/buildings or any capital improvement.
Fair public revenue at last!
#AGR ranges from ยฃ0 (unwanted sites) to ยฃmillions (central most desired locations).
@nickdixoncomic This spat is rural landed rent seekers VS urban/statist rent seekers.
They are all rent seekers. They are the same side.
To thrive- our nation needs to recognise the difference between profit/work and rent- and get behind the former.
The most important conversation of our time.
Thank you @geophilos@amul_pandya ๐

A powerful letter, signed by MPs and orgs across the UK, has been sent to @Keir_Starmer, urging for a fairer property tax system that reflects todayโs reality.
Thanks to @JonathanBrash, @liambyrnemp & @grahamemorris for leading the way.

Distorted life chances are easily explained by government-approved #RentSeeking and the ensuing #RentExtraction that devastates communities by transferring socially produced wealth (#LocationRent) to site owners as an unearned privilege. ๐

Did #Abolitionism succeed?
Wealth produced by work is today transferred to others on at least as vast a scale as in the days of overt slavery. Refusal to collect and redistribute location rent per capita is the reason.

What's more likely?
Option 1 - Every different social, economic and environmental problem has a unique solution.
Option 2 - All these seemingly various problems are actually the result of a single basic governmental maladjustment.
Cast your vote and explain it if you can.
โI have read in the newspapers that โI am a communist, a disturber of social order, a dangerous man, and a promoter of all sorts of destructive theoriesโ. What is the terrible thing that I want to do? The very opposite of communism. I want in the first place to remove all restrictions upon production of wealth which will give every man that which he has fairly earned. What I contend for is that the man who produces, or accumulates, or economizes: the man who plants a tree, or drains a marsh, or grows a crop, or erects a building, or establishes a business, should not be fined for so doing; that it is to the interest of all that he should receive the full benefit of his labor, his foresight, his energy or his talents. In other words, I propose to abolish all taxation which falls upon the exertion of labor or the use of capital or the accumulation of wealth, and to meet all public expenses out of that fund which arises, not from the exertion of any individual, but from the growth of the whole community, i.e from the revenues of the one and only tax on land according to its value.โ -- Henry George
