@thehealthb0t Yes, and it was taken off of the market over 1.5 yrs ago for this reason. No one is getting Astra Zeneca Covid shots this fall. This isn’t news…
This could have been a safe Olympics.
We know how to stop covid transmission.
Instead, this.
How many athletes will be left disabled by this malicious incompetence.
@0xchenyuling @milanaldebaran That do you mean by “manageable”? I was unable to work for over 10 months, and at 21 months I am still severely limited in the level of activity I can do. Plans to start a family, advance at work, etc all on indefinite hold. It’s completely changed my life. No longer virulent? 🙃
I cannot stress this enough (again): DO NOT exercise when you’re sick. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cold, COVID, the flu, or something else. It doesn’t matter if you’re an Olympic athlete or a “regular” person; it’s dangerous.
A lot of commotion over whether Noah Lyles should have run the Olympic 200m final last night whilst having Covid. 🧵
It’s easy to get cross with him for being irresponsible, and risking fellow athletes’ health & subsq races, BUT…

@Jay3fer @PassportCan @elward1976 I second this! It should be clearly stated on that webpage, but is currently not. I only found this answer via googling a bunch 🤷🏻♀️
@BBCNews The comments are horrid, but thank you so much for using your energy to share your story. My LC is much more “mild” (I was able to go back to work after 10 months) but it was and is still hell. No matter the response, we have to keep speaking up about the severe risks 🤍
@Ay_Laurita@tolmeia@BBCNews It’s so heartbreaking to see ppl completely disregard our lives like they’re worthless and we’re lazy, when most of us had full, productive lives before getting sick 💔🥺
Just been talking to a lady who said that their family are distraught after three of the fifteen people who gathered on Christmas Eve have since been hospitalised with 'infections'.
2024 will be the year we finally get rid of ”anything but COVID“ garbage. It will be impossible for the lie to continue.
It will also be the year we finally see science get the upper hand.
As a clinical health psychologist, I notice that many people are using psychological defense mechanisms to downplay the risk of COVID.
These are my Top 7 examples:
🧵
If you find yourself in a position to give, please consider supporting @DonateMask, a charity that mails free RATs & N95 equivalent respirators coast to coast in 🇨🇦 They ensure access to vital protection for those who wish to safeguard their health but face financial constraints
Masks for airborne disease are like boil water advisories for waterborne disease. Measures that you use to keep people safe while you build infrastructure and change regulations…let’s get going.
I find it fascinating that people get so offended by sensible protective measures. Protecting the one mind and body I have, and caring about the well-being of my friends, family, and their loved ones seems like the *opposite* of mental illness or fear mongering. 🤷🏽♀️
Beyond saying COVID is everywhere right now, which seems to have little effect, let’s try this; it is very possibly the worst I have seen since the pandemic began.
If you go mask less in a public location you will get infected.
Bet that still will have no effect but we try.
They made it hard to get vaxxed
They stigmatized masks
They made it hard to get tested
They blocked access to antivirals
They branded us as radical for not going to brunch
Who is public health protecting exactly?
1. So, this provides a teachable moment. First, infection is not inevitable. Second, the end goal is to not get Covid before better vaccines and therapeutics are available, thus maintaining my health and fitness, and protecting those around me.
