I recently spoke with Marjorie Betley, Exec Director of the @STARSCollegeNet on the @YCBKpodcast.
STARS provides resources to rural students often overlooked by traditional college recruiting.

Each time I hear from a frustrated HS counselor/college adviser whose students are hung up by the #FAFSA, I can’t help but think about all the teenagers who DON’T have a HS counselor/college adviser to help them.
I spoke with @YCBKpodcast about how universities are, or rather, are not, using Artificial Intelligence in college admissions. Beginning at 33:00, we discuss ways AI technologies may be incorporated in the future to improve administrative processes. https://t.co/my3IsBszhP

BTW, the fact that kids from elite college prep schools get college good grades even if they have mediocre SATs is an indictment against grades, not the SAT. It means they can tutor or charm their way into success or are more familiar with the canon despite mediocre intelligence.
“When you don’t have test scores, the students who suffer most are those with high grades at relatively unknown high schools, the kind that rarely send kids to the Ivy League,” Deming, a Harvard economist, said. “The SAT is their lifeline.” #ruraleducation#gtchat

@cmclymer Highly recommend @jselingo's Who Gets In And Why. Too much focus on "elite" (Top 100) schools, not enough focus on on the 2,600 4-year schools (10.5 million students) who basically offer "Kohl's cash" to almost everyone to attract students who can claim they went on scholarship.
Career planning starts day one in college, with universities like Brown embedding career advisors across campus. #collegeadmissions#careeradvice
