The narrative that the anime industry and its techniques are still inaccessible to Westerners unless you travel to Japan or enroll in a class over there is no longer true. It was like that 10 years ago, but now it’s more accessible than ever. You just have to look at the credits of almost any popular anime and you’ll see names from all over the world (most of them very young too).
There are resources, paid and free tutorials, communities and the ability to translate almost any kind of document. Plus, a well trained Western animator can shift to Japanese standards with little effort.
I don’t have any problem with people promoting their paid courses or resources, but when it’s through misinformation and clickbait it comes out as disingenuous.
Been thinking increasingly hard about restarting the blog recently. The content will be a bit different, though.
More details this summer, hopefully.
(I don't think this means more activity for this account in any case)

It took us a while but here are some of the LO of animator @tuesnazz did in the previous episode 5 of Witch Hat Atelier.
We just love his BG details and his dragon was really impressive. Thanks again to the Director Kawagoe for his amazing corrections.

@spi3lzeug Well, it's incredibly unusual in Japanese animation because it requires working under a very different method. It also demands excellent consistency and body language. In western animation, it's much more common.
We (Anime Atelier, unrelated to the Atelier in the thread) directly asked who the "studio representative" making the statements was and we received a "There is only one guy and that's me", the issue I take is that it seems like no one bothered to ask who they were speaking to.
