When transphobes say, "There are only 2 genders, that's biology, that's science!" I can't help but be reminded of flat earthers saying, "Satellites and orbits can't be real, *things fall down* that's science!"
Like that's the preschool level, now please actually read the science.
@DannyHarris_TA This is your daily reminder that we're living in a dystopia. This is not a fluke, not a glitch in the system, this is the natural progression of the steps we've already made. And no amount of disgruntled tweets will slow corporations in their climb to uncontested control.
@Rosespikes Right, gonna be honest with you...
I totally forgot faraday cages are a thing.
I definitely should have taken more time to think about it before dumping my opinion here. Sorry to bother.
@AuthorConfusion The process of unlearning/deprogramming is something I still find myself needing to do in new little areas of my life.
I really wish more atheists (and people in general) understood how cult programming works. I find myself frequently frustrated by people who don't get it.
@Rosespikes But if you add thrusters to the payload to nudge it into orbit, the delicate bits (particularly electronics) would get fried by the railgun like an EMP. It's a catch 22 that the gun can only fire projectiles that can't achieve orbit. :(
@Rosespikes There are many replies to this already, but I think the simplest answer is that one pretty fundamental law of projectile motion is that no object without self-propulsion can be shot into orbit. It can get to the height of LEO, sure, but it will fall back down eventually.
@Rosespikes When it's other people's lives on the line, who could care less? It doesn't affect them. But when someone likes pineapple on pizza? It's time for justice to be served on behalf of the oppressed.
This is part of why I've cared about Twitter activism less and less recently.
@AuthorConfusion Your sexual organs don't determine your gender, just as your gender doesn't determine your sexuality, just as your sexuality doesn't determine your ability to have children.
@Brian_D_Herman @NJasper19 @dudelongcouch @ksorbs Speaking out against someone endangering others doesn't mean you don't care about their safety. Never was that implied.
I think he's kind of a terrible person, but he's still a person. Given the choice of his life or my lunch, I'd choose him.
Because that's what good people do.
@AttilaSaysMeow@KimuraJinketsu@moeschi82@ksorbs Show me "right to spread a deadly virus" in the Constitution though.
Your right to swing your fist ends at my nose. When you use your freedom to endanger people's safety or hurt people, you forfeit that freedom.
It's why you'll get arrested for shooting fireworks in a supermarket
@Brian_D_Herman @NJasper19 @dudelongcouch @ksorbs Yeah, just like Jesus did. Remember the parable where he left a lamb to die because he already had 99 to take care of? Me neither.
@AuthorConfusion I'm just happy that a vast majority of them post-hoc rationalize away the justification of slavery instead of defending it. As much as I hate cherry picking, I prefer progressive people who pick over slavery to "old-fashioned" people who pick over charity and love thy neighbor.
@strawhatguy@benjamingreve @n5156192789 @xkcdComic As though the only two options are big corrupt government or small corrupt government. Corporations have the power of capital regardless of government size. Have you ever considered ✨taxing billionaires,✨ and limiting their ability to corrupt things in the first place?
