For fun, I've been doing some digging on other low snowfall (to this point) El Niño years in the Twin Cities.
The most recent is 06/07.
10.0" of snow fell through January.
25.5" fell in Feb-Apr. With February alone bringing 12.6", and March, 11.0"
Seasonal total was 35.5"
The next is 02/03.
10.1" fell through January. 24.9" fell in Feb-April. February brought 10.7" and March, 13.2"
Seasonal total was 35.0"
Though not as similar, 2018/19 was another fun one. 17.8" through January. 59.3" of snow Feb-April. February alone brought 39.0" of snow.
Seasonal total was 77.1"
This year, we've had 7.3" through January. Let's see what happens Feb-April.
The moral of the story, backloaded winters absolutely can, and do, exist. I think this will be one of them. Long range ensemble guidance tells Minnesotan snow lovers not to give up hope just yet. #mnwx
There are 49 million kangaroos in Australia and only 6 million people in Minnesota so if the kangaroos were to ever invade Minnesota each person would have to fight off 9 kangaroos
