Yesterday, very large hail fell in SW Czechia, reaching up to 8 cm in diameter. Despite marginal deep layer shear, transient right-moving supercell interacting with another updraft along convergence zone created favorable conditions for growth of massive hail.
NWS is aware that https://t.co/gsCba9xgtZ is still down. We have restored https://t.co/qk3BcVP5M8.
Technicians are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. NWS’s local Weather Forecast offices continue providing forecasts, alerts and decision support without interruption. Other NWS websites are not impacted.
@MatthewCappucci What confuses me is why the staffing issues seem to be so regionally coherent? Why are the missing balloon launches not more randomly scattered across the country? And it does not seem that NWS HQ has been at all transparent about what is really going on.
Check out this epic timelapse from my drone of the tornado near Beaver condensing for the 3rd time before it gets wrapped in rain. Just mesmerizing structure! #OKwx
JAN issues Severe Thunderstorm Warning [wind: 60 MPH (RADAR INDICATED), hail: <.75 IN (RADAR INDICATED)] for Hinds, Madison, Rankin [MS] till Jun 22, 12:45 PM CDT https://t.co/jArYbJ3cf7

What makes one hailstone stronger than another?
In our latest hail field campaign, IBHS engineers tested how hailstones respond to compression—then analyzed their internal structure using machine vision. 🧊

Last week, the Administration's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released a proposed rule that would politicize federal science grantmaking, replacing scientific rigor with ideological gatekeeping.
AGU President Brandon Jones spells out all that's at stake and why it's more important than ever to make your voices heard and submit a public comment today: https://t.co/8txtf6yMb1
Yes to all Matthew stated. In addition, this makes hand analysis of upper-air charts (for optimal understanding) nearly impossible.
Finally, @NWS is violating its agreement with the @WMO to provide RAOBs at international standard 12Z time.
@burgwx Even if this was statistically valid, it includes one of my most hated statistical extrapolation phrases: "every single week". Whether you're talking about a mean value or a statistically common pattern, you simply can not say it happens "every single" time.
