But when it's time to take action, many are still standing on the sidelines shouting:

"We believe!"

Let's ask a different question:

"Who's willing to get in the wheelbarrow?"

Belief isn't what you say. Faith isn't what you claim.
Faith is knowledge, belief, commitment, & behavior.

Championship teams are built when athletes stop watching & start trusting. Stop cheering from the sidelines.

Here is something every coach should hear: "My job is not coaching. My job is giving my student-athletes hope."

Read that again.

Your athletes may forget the score. They may forget the championship. But they'll never forget the coach who believed in them.

The coach who visited their home. The coach who cared enough to know their story. The coach who gave them hope. Sports are the vehicle. Lives are the destination.

Congratulations to Aidan Moeller of Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial High School, seen here with Doug Burns, AD.  After being named the male @MN_IAAA @Bound_HQ MNIAAA Retiree Scholarship winner this year, he was forwarded to being considered for the Section V award where he was named the male scholarship award winner at the @NIAAA9100 Section V meeting in Omaha just a week ago.  Section V includes Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri.  Aidan’s scholarship information will now be moved on for consideration at the national level.  Congratulations Aidan (& Doug)!  We wish you the best in all your future endeavors!

One of the biggest mistakes coaches make: "Because I said so." That worked 40 years ago. It doesn't work today. Coach Dennis Parker explains: Today's athletes need to understand WHY.

Why are we running this drill? Why are we practicing this way? Why does this standard matter? When athletes understand the WHY...

They develop ownership. When they develop ownership...

They develop belief. When they develop belief...

They develop commitment. And commitment changes behavior.
