We lost a friend, a brother in Christ, a voice for biblical values, and I believe a voice for America.

I have sat with many families in the shadow of a tragedy. And I have come to the conclusion that when we are confronted with unexpected death, we are far more similar than we are different.

When our lives have momentum, we tend to celebrate the things that make us different. The neighborhoods in which we live, the cars in which we drive, and the schools that our children may attend. The label on our clothing, where we vacation.

All of those things carry tremendous significance when we think we will never step out of time. But my experience is that when death comes, and particularly when it comes in an unexpected way, we are very much the same.

The reality is our lives remain in God's hands, and we would be very wise and very prudent to live every day with that awareness, and with the awareness of our assignment.

Charlie Kirk gave his life. I'm very confident that Charlie understood every morning the challenges he faced, and yet he continued to step into the public square.

The messages that Charlie Kirk stood up for and reminded our college students of are no less true today. And it is no less necessary for us to continue to repeat them.

They didn't begin with Charlie. And they won't end with his stepping out of time. Hatred for the biblical worldview and the fundamental principles of Scripture is not new. It's not new to our generation. It won't be new to the next.

Sometimes it’s easy to think the only way to deal with a challenge to truth is by being conciliatory and not telling the truth.

If a physician did that and didn't tell you the truth about your diagnosis because he didn't want to hurt your feelings, we would call that malpractice and try to have their license removed. And if a Christian isn't willing to tell the truth, it’s malpractice.

Keep your focus on what God is doing and not on the expressions of evil in the world. Evil will not relent. Ultimately, the only thing evil will yield to is a power greater than itself, and it's not us; it's the God we worship. That is why our connection to the Lord matters so much.
