My #book21 for 2023 was Leading the Calling, a professional book on leadership. It was great for reflection on leading in my classroom/school and still hopefully obtain my goals. Lots of little lessons here. If you are a teacher who craves positivity & growth, I highly recommend.
It all started in two beach chairs, in Ocracoke North Carolina, where Dr. Eason and Dr. Spencer asked themselves what brought them joy, pride, and hope during their careers.

This week we focus on personalized empowerment. In Leading the Calling, personalized empowerment is defined as involving the practice of employing others to act, to share, to make a meaningful contribution, and to feel emblazoned by the freedom to make a difference.

“Many times, we reach a hand out in an effort to help others when what they really need is a collective hand up to engage in the work of shared success.” - Dr. Kathy Spencer

In Leading the Calling, collaborative relationships are referred to as “showing the importance of not only connections among people but the desire and necessity to work together and to honor what makes each person special and unique."
