@bdgroves Whereas, on the flip side, an estimate of 138 Las Vegas to Tuolumne could be just one or two survey respondents weights applied.
Long story short, the migration estimates get a little sketchy for small flows.
@bdgroves Super cool analysis. FWIW, these uneven numbers a likely due too the fact that the ACS is a survey. If no survey respondents are observed moving from Tuolumne to Las Vegas over the 5 year period, then the estimate will be zero. No amount of weighting will change that.
@PaulSkallas Why do you think population decline will solve climate change?
Population decline won't necessarily stop the imperative for growth and development. And I worry that a more elderly population (we must go thru this stage before pop decline) will cause strain.
Spent the afternoon at a memorial at a Legion Hall in NW Indiana it was kind of remarkable how little anyone seemed to care about what's happening in Iran.
@nilwxreports@chicagobars Soldier Field was around 47 years before the Bears first season there. I think it'll do fine without the Bears... Not that I necessarily think they should move...
@PG3124@minc798@Eric_Erins@Foil_Island If I had to guess, the question of house prices in IL has more to do with supply/inventory than demand (which despite the narrative continues to hold constant or even grow due to shifts in population age structure & household size considerations)
@PG3124@minc798@Eric_Erins@Foil_Island There are also potentially reasons why the Census Bureau underestimates net migration to Illinois due to their reliance on federal income tax returns and CMS Medicare beneficiary claims to estimate population flows... But this is a but speculative on my part.
