In Belém for COP30 — using this space as a field notebook (or at least that’s the plan if I don't get lost in logistics!)
Listening to a panel at #COP30 about decarbonisation in the industrial sector. Funny to see that the Brazilian government couldn't find anyone other than lobbyists to talk about the subject. Petrobras speaking about how oil companies are so great :
Canada, Japan, Norway, France… also invited fossil fuel CEOs as Party overflow : it means they have access to the table of negotiations. Not only as observers, as speakers to public debates or side events but even behind the closed doors of parties negotiations. #COP30#KBPO

Let’s talk about the numbers pointed by #KickBugPollutersOut : One of every 25 participants with accreditation at the #COP30 is a lobbyist from fossil fuel organisation/company. Well, what’s the point of not having real discussions @Cop30noBrasil ?
The G77 + China summit follows — another stage where “the global South” tries to speak with one voice, even if the interests are not always aligned. COP30 officially opens on November 10. The main question is: who’s gonna be there? #COP30#ClimateSummit#G77#Brazil (2/2)
One week before COP30, diplomacy is already busy. Climate Summit (Nov 6–7), a pre-COP convened by the Lula, brings together heads of state, ministers, and international organizations to discuss oceans, forests, energy transition, and the next decade of the Paris Agreement (1/2)
I never used Twitter before. But since I just finished my PhD, I might finally have some time to share a few thoughts from this new field project.
I’ll be in Brasília from tomorrow to take the temperature before COP30 officially starts ! #Cop30#Brazil#Lula#UNFCCC
