Reputation systems matter most when their logic can be verified, not just trusted. Cryptographic proofs could make onchain credibility far more accountable
Good morning friends... ⚡⚡
I was reading about ZeruAI and its zScore system, and one thing I found really interesting.
In Web3, most reputation scores still depend on centralized black-box AI. ZeruAI is doing things a little differently. It uses cryptography and EigenLayer to keep reputation secure, verifiable and private.
Storing every score directly on the blockchain would be very expensive, so ZeruAI uses Merkle Trees. The scores are processed off-chain and only the root is stored on-chain. This means anyone can verify a score easily. If someone tries to create a fake score, the system can detect it.
When you connect your wallet, you only sign a message to prove that the wallet belongs to you. You never have to share your private key and simply signing a message cannot let anyone move your assets.
ZeruAI also uses Zero Knowledge proofs so real-world data can be verified on-chain without revealing your personal information.
For example, you could prove your GitHub activity or credit score without showing the actual private data behind it.
This keeps your identity private while still allowing your on-chain reputation to become strong and verifiable.
To keep the system decentralized, zScore runs as an AVS on EigenLayer. Operators run AI models and have to prove that they did their work correctly.
If an operator tries to manipulate a score, they could lose their staked ETH.
Basically, lying becomes more expensive than telling the truth.
Data can also be shared across different networks through messaging layers like LayerZero, so another chain doesn't have to run the same computation again.
And this matters because, in the future, reputation scores could decide who gets airdrops, who gets better loan terms and who gets access to exclusive markets.
ZeruAI is basically trying to turn hidden AI data into a verifiable public reputation layer for Web3.
