What makes this even more frustrating is that passport renewals can be escalated and reviewed by the Passport Office in urgent circumstances. First-time passport applications, however, don’t seem to have the same option — regardless of how close the travel date is.

Beyond disappointed with the Irish Passport Office.

Our 12-week-old twins still do not have their first passports, meaning that on weds we will have to stand and wave goodbye as my 3-yr-old daughter, my husband, my sister and her family head off on hols without us. @PassportIRL

The issue? The Passport Office requested new photographs, which we resubmitted immediately. Yet there appears to be no mechanism for anyone to simply check and approve those photographs before our travel date.

@SmallerFishGAA Quite a few kilkenny there jersey not as prominent nd alot wear the black shirt. We much prefer going to croker for a match than portlaois or tullamore … the drive n parking alot easier

@ShaneSaint Really unfair to comment until its been announced….. how dare the public put pressure on him or imply good riddance…. He owes nothing to the GAA or Kilkenny hurling… dedicated alot of time and energy in all aspects of the sport!
