Because the messages we don't send will shape our relationships just as much as the messages we do send. 💡

I had a great time in Amarillo yesterday with my friends at The Panhandle Human Resources Association.

I was honored to be invited to speak on how leaders and organizations can send belonging cues throughout the entire employee lifecycle.

Belonging moves the needle. 💯

This approach empowers instead of inducing more shame, which is the LAST thing most leaders need. 💯

AND it will lead to more growth than we thought possible. 👏🏻

Different leaders can get to the same outcomes using different methods. 💯

So it must be said. You do not have to be the most interpersonally gifted person in the room to be an exceptional leader.

Let's stop putting so much pressure on leaders to have phenomenal people skills.

Instead:

✅ Let's equip leaders to use the natural talents they already have to send the messages that matter most.

✅ Let's help them identify their vulnerabilities and blind spots so they can communicate openly about them, thus building trust and psychological safety.

@kadewilcox 💯 Just happened to me with an insurance need. I called three local businesses & had to leave a message for all three. After saying I needed a quote & was ready to buy on the voicemail, only one of them ever called me back. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Are you trying to sell something here, or no?

Employees will tell the truth about your organization & your leadership when you’ve made it safe to do so.

That takes work.

That takes humility & trust.

If you don’t create this type of environment, you will struggle to retain your best people. 💯
