If Esther McVey is the “Minister for Common Sense”, does that mean no other Minister in this Cabinet has any common sense? Sounds about right to me then. Wonder what’s next - Minister for the Bloody Obvious?
George R. R. Martin is disappointed that Paddy Considine was left out of the Emmys Best Actor category by the Television Academy.
“Most of our team will have other shots at the prize in seasons to come, to be sure, but that’s not true for Paddy Considine — and that’s heartbreaking. My gods, his portrayal was magnificent. He earned a shelf of trophies for episode eight alone.” #HouseOfTheDragon
If you’re a parent of a Year 6 child, just go and say one nice thing to their teaching staff. We’re easily pleased, absolutely on our knees and still have a huge week to go!
Feeling really hopeful about next year; my classroom management has developed so much this year, and just want that clean slate to embed everything I’ve learnt from day 1 😌
Had the loveliest transition morning with my new class yesterday.
It’s amazing how much difference a year can make! I went right in at the start with expectations and classroom culture as that is the foundation that can enable more “fun”, practical activities.
The fact that @GillianKeegan hasn't spoken to the teaching unions for the past three months or released the STRB report so that schools can finalise next year's budgets demonstrates how little regard she actually has for teachers. We fight on. #SaveOurSchools#DoYourJobGill
I know there’s been talk of this country running out of teachers for years, but I genuinely think that ‘talk’ will soon become a reality. Not a shortage or cutting corners - literally no one to stand in classrooms in front of classes. Wonder what happens then? It’ll be too late.
@hansmollman I am filtering by brand more and more. My go tos are still some fast fashion (zara, H&M, topshop), but not as intense as the brands you mentioned.
A few myths to dispel:
1. Teachers are not paid for the holidays.
You read that right, teachers are not paid for the holidays. They could be classed as TOIL for the unpaid overtime they routinely do, but actually they are just not paid (despite many working, prepping etc.).
The single biggest step we could take to improve everyone's arithmetical ability would be to abolish decimal coinage and re-introduce pounds, shillings, and pence.
@RishiSunak@educationgovuk You'll need to employ a large number of maths teachers. How are you planning to do that when teacher pay is being eroded, when inadequate funding is leading to redundancies and when workload is increasingly unmanageable? There's a massive teacher exodus that needs addressing.
@Mr_Charles20 Thank you - I have so much admiration for your honesty on here, especially as a fellow ECT (and someone who nearly did secondary English!)
I felt myself going against my instincts a lot in relation to behaviour over the year, but in the week before Easter saw a positive shift.
