Father of a wonderful (now 7yo) autistic boy. I have a LOT to learn about autism in general, and about my son in particular, as a unique, clever, gorgeous boy💙
@learner_autism (Now that I think about it, I started around 8yo)
The pill-swallowing difficulty MAY or MAY NOT fade as your son ages. It did for me….at around 18. My Gag Reflex was the issue, and it’s improved a bit.
Sometimes sensory stuff gets better, sometimes it DOESN’T (ex, sound for me)
@learner_autism Make SURE that the “pill powder” mixes AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE (it will taste gross otherwise).
I took ADHD meds most of my childhood, and this is how I did it.
@learner_autism I couldn’t for YEARS; what worked for me:
Crush the tablet (or open up capsule); take a spoonful of applesauce or yogurt and make a little pocket in the center, then POUR IN the pill (don’t mix further)
If I swallowed fast, I wouldn’t taste much
I just cancelled my Adobe licence after many years as a customer.
The new terms give Adobe "worldwide royalty-free licence to reproduce, display, distribute" or do whatever they want with any content I produce using their software.
This is beyond insane. No creator in their right mind can accept this .
You pay a huge monthly subscription and they want to own your content and your entire business as well.
Going to have to learn some new tools.
Unbelievably honoured!
I’m receiving an MBE in the New Years Honours List for my services in neurodivergence (Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Tourette’s syndrome) and those with related joint hypermobility syndromes including Ehlers-Danlos syndromes #MakingWaves#changes#HSD#equity
I read a long thread this morning about #profound autism.
There were bits I disagreed with. There were bits that outraged me. Then I thought about it.
Autism is complex. Do the current DSM definitions works for everyone?
Opinions please!

@Spectrum0Gaming One year later now, my 8yo autistic son plays with his tablet all the time when home, even during meals and even when he goes to the toilet.
@Spectrum0Gaming Thanks for the thread SG. My 8yo son is autistic and sometimes we worry he's spending too much time on his tablet watching videos and cartoons. But we notice that frequently he finds videos related to things happening in his real life. And I think it helps him.
