Onboard Goa Express in Itarsi (MP), police forcibly detained students travelling from Pune to Delhi to participate in the protests demanding resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

(b) 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: When Senior Advocate Sanjoy Ghosh made an urgent oral mentioning today, the Acting Chief Justice ruled there was "no urgency," deferring the matter to Monday.
Postponing a challenge to a Saturday protest until Monday isn’t judicial prudence, it is complicity by delay. By pretending time-sensitive fundamental rights carry no urgency, the bench actively guaranteed that the state's crackdown succeeds without scrutiny.
This happened while citizens were already being placed under arbitrary house arrest across the city, 57 metro stations shut down, Rajdhani routes cut, and students intercepted across transit hubs to barricade Delhi from its own people. When the executive imposes a lockdown and the judiciary deliberately looks at its watch until the moment passes, the rule of law becomes an empty ritual.

UP CEO says that they were not supposed to disclose 16.18 lakh applications to add voters before the draft roll was published.
The ECI instructions mandates disclosure of all claims and objections.

A March–April 1933 Reich Ministry decree in Nazi Germany had forced cities across Germany, Austria, and occupied Europe to name central squares and main streets after Hitler.
After 1945, these were immediately renamed back to their previous names or given new non-Nazi designations.
In UP SIR, ECI software auto-generated 85,854 forms to delete voters without a reason. The law mandates people should know the reason for their deletion.

Noida DM and Gyanesh Kumar Gupta's daughter, Medha Roopam has turned “Aandolanjeevi” into a pejorative label for protesters and then used that label in the grounds for detaining a journalist, Satyam Verma.
It is as if a wave of amnesia has erased the fact that - despite her father - India will continue to be a democracy, and peaceful protest will always be a constitutional right.
Perhaps, during her UPSC preparation, the lady DM never got around to reading Hannah Arendt’s Banality of Evil. It would have taught her a thing or two about what happens when bureaucrats become instruments of a totalitarian state. And that would have been good for her.
These 42 “former Judges” have issued letter defending the Election Commission and lecturing the country about “denigration” of institutions.
I did some research.
Look at the names that keep appearing:
(a) Justice Hemant Gupta (ex-Supreme Court) – the same judge who upheld the Karnataka hijab ban, attended a VHP legal cell event after retirement, and has a record of remarks that raised eyebrows even while on the Bench.
(b) Justice SN Dhingra** (ex-Delhi High Court) – long known for selective activism; quick to file PILs and issue statements when it suits one political side, and equally quick to dismiss legitimate questions about electoral rolls as “media stunts.” I wrote about him the morning .
(c) Justice BC Patel(former CJ of Delhi & J&K High Courts)
(d) Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee (former CJ of Karnataka High Court) . The same judge who faced open revolt from the Karnataka Bar over his functioning and controversial remarks on Tipu Sultan.
(e) Justice Permod Kohli (former CJ of Sikkim High Court) . He is a regular in letters that defend the establishment and attack political criticism of institutions.

"Where did this term 'Aandolanjeevi (आंदोलनजीवी)' come from? How did it find its way into an official document?" Justice Atul Sreedharan of Allahabad HC questions use of the term in the grounds of NSA detention issued by Noida DM Medha Roopam against journalist Satyam Verma.
