@sage_stage Up until this year, I did "bathroom trains." Couldn't take it anymore. It's now "ask at a good time." School rules are no passes first/last 10 and 1 pass at a time. My answer is now just "yes" or "not now." For the kids who ask about the future, I say "no idea."
@traceylynn1117@MrZachG Good questions. My answer: teachers cannot compete with billion-dollar companies who spend their money and resources targeting teens for ad revenue and sales.
@teachbk Reviewing whatever IEP docs are available is a part of my beginning-of-the-year routine. What bothers me is having to specially request to see 504 plans because they usually aren't sent to teachers unless requested.
@natabasso Big changes (mostly negative) are already happening due to social media. When schools cannot take away or restrict student devices, it's ultimately the parents who allow unfettered access to social media.
@heymrsbond Something I don't see talked about much is the incentive to cheat when it comes to turning in assignments very late. So many of my students plagiarize themselves, classmates, and the Internet when they turn in assignments late. Honors students, especially.
If you are a decision maker in your school district, stop having trainings to βhelpβ teachers build more resilience and perseverance. So insulting!
Instead, remove tasks from their already full plate! #EdChat
@DrBradJohnson A sub the other week gave a bad report on a group of my students. I started my career as a sub, so I did what no teacher ever did for me: had those high school students hand write apology letters, which I delivered to her the next day. The smile on her face was priceless.
@cluzniak As a former computer science student and a current computer science teacher, I think proofs still have a place in HS math. I did not particularly enjoy them, but I recognize how valuable they were in understanding computing logic.
Teachers shouldn't have to cover classes, give up planning time, work 20 extra hours a week, take on extra tasks, etc. just to be considered an effective teacher or all in. Teachers give above and beyond already without it becoming the expectation. It's why so many are burned out
Worked at least 20 hours this weekend (closer to 24), got paid for 4 hours. This is on top of working 60-70+ hours Monday-Friday, paid for 36.

Feeling woefully under-prepared to teach both my Ukrainian and my Russian students tomorrow. I have my regular lessons planned, but not prepped because acting like everything is normal doesn't sit right with me atm.
@ThatMumboJumbo Hey! I recently built my classroom in Minecraft, and just had a thought to put redstone lamps under the desks connected to some sort of randomizer selection circuit... possibly powered by eggs? Not quite sure how to work out the logic for this silly idea, lol.
@Kishahowell3@DulceFlecha Wow, I'm surprised to hear MLA being used for a post-secondary assignment, but even more surprised that it's for a doctoral degree! If you don't have anyone else, let me know. Wouldn't say I'm an expert, but I've used it a lot and also know my way around PurdueOWL.
