BUT! If you’re interested in helping out a 2nd grade teacher in GA who is enjoying the classroom trailer life, here’s my list!!

My BP medication ran out, so I had to come in for an appointment to check my BP (135/86) and get a new prescription. I’ve been waiting an HOUR for to doctor. Just give me the prescription and let me go.
Good thing I didn’t take time off of work for this. 🙄
@alyakbrooke One Stop Teacher Shop has a planner on TPT. I create a calendar with it that I send to Office Depot to print. I print the planning pages week by week and then put them in my binder. Lots of ways to customize!
@MarvelTeacher2 There isn’t a classroom in America that spends the entire first month of school teaching routines and zero content. I start my content on the first day of school while embedding routine instruction into it.
But stop listening to people who keep denigrating your profession, whether you are a single woman with no kids or a married woman with 4 kids (like me). Feel free to let your personality show in your room. You’re in there for 8 hours a day. It should be a place you love.
This comes around every single summer. I’m in a metal box (trailer) for 8+ hours a day. There are two rows of bare florescent lights that gave me headaches. I have two doors with a 12 in by 12 in window that’s taller than me.
Teachers used to be moms who wanted to earn an income while spending time with their kids. Their primary identity was: mom. Now teachers are childless alphabet soup people or liberal single women and their primary identity is: “educator”. The shift produces shit like this.
Yes, these rooms are over the top, but if you’re a new teacher, feel free to make your room YOURS. I got a lot of my stuff from thrift stores or on sale. I certainly didn’t pay thousands. Ask friends, use FB marketplace, go on teacher buy/sell sites.
@VictoriaTheTech As a parent with a son who STRUGGLED his senior year, I can’t count the number of emails I got from his ELA teacher about his grades. HS teachers (especially of seniors) know which classes are required for graduation, and they WANT your kid to graduate.
@JBenderWI@WillFlandersWI So, a if a parent enrolls a child with a severe TBI who needs intensive therapies will be accepted and enrolled by a charter school?
@ronrule@Scotts_Irish1@LakesFirearmsTr No, because private equity keeps buying the “starter homes” and then renting them out at inflated rates.
In my area, they’re building townhomes that aren’t even for sale. They’re marketed as rentals. (With rent starting at $2500 a month.)
@CoachRolfes@tyruspradier Who gets 2.5 months off? My last day was May 22nd, and my first day of preplanning is July 27th. (That doesn’t include the time the week before when I’ll be in setting up my room since they don’t give us enough time to do that during preplanning.)
@B2992PC@theLUCASTDS Last day of post planning is Friday before Memorial Day. You get 10 hours of sick leave a month, and you can use 24 total hours as personal leave.
@B2992PC@theLUCASTDS Let me know if you need the info. Pre-planning starts late July. Our hours are 7:30-3:15 M,W,F and 7:30-4:10 T & Th. (Veteran tip - you’ll want to get there before 7:15 as our parking lot also doubles as our drop off line, and you’ll be stuck until about 4:30 cause MS backs up.)
