Sovereignty for the Global South and women, bring political economy back to Marxism, Michael Hudson, complexity science, active inference ♥️@winnielark
Judith and I were disturbed by conversations about Palestine we saw on twitter, so we decided to do something about it, which resulted in this: almost 5k words answering the questions that we thought anti-zionist radfems were asked most often.

@heterophobeV2@winnielark OP was pointing out that obviously we don't throw out manufacturing consent just because Chomsky had issues, but people have a double standard when it comes to Persepolis and Satrapi
@sathixpatel@periskepto@del_aunaie I admire your writing style!! It is engaging, I love how direct and straightforward you are. Sometimes I look back at my writing and realize that I spent a lot of time talking around what I was trying to say, I'm working on making my writing more decisive and easier to follow.
@del_aunaie twv art direction is so scrumptious. These 2 pages from the latest issue stuck with me especially. I almost didn't see the first one because I was reading the articles individually on substack.
@Raktarasikah@winnielark The point is that colonists and others have already attempted to reinterpret Kali to suit their own political ideology. The essay is a study of social responses to and reinterpretations of Kali, not a study of Kali herself or of religious practices.
@shrili_ For what it's worth, as someone with little knowledge of the subject, I personally didn't come away from the article with the impression that it was intended to be representative of actual practices. My impression was that the article was highlighting
@shapeslvt@zofloyaa@shrili_ What I found valuable was the study of how colonists/others attempted to reinterpret/domesticate/sanitize Kali. The purpose (if I'm interpreting correctly) is to recognize a general pattern in how powerful parties attempt to defang concepts/symbols w/ radical potential.
Total Woman Victory Volume 2 Issue 2: Written by the Body is OUT NOW! 🔗 below!
“Written by the Body” is Part 2 of two issues exploring the female body as a historical forefront of feminist analysis. This issue takes up the body as a central battlefield in the sex contradiction: the disorientation and pain of beauty rituals, the cultural torment of sexual initiation, the systemic violence of medical malpractice and infrastructural misogyny, the devastations of eating and reproductive disorders, the coercion of sterilization and forced birth, rape and wife battering, the scrutiny of evolutionary examinations of the female body, and the endless forms of torture and commodification inflicted on women. At the same time, it foregrounds women’s refusal—the resistance, defiance, and collective struggle against the appropriation and manipulation of our bodies.
@irlgregorsamsa @_court_yard It was seeing the response of 1st world feminists to October 7th that inspired us to start TWV in the first place, as a strictly anti-imperialist voice in the radfem space
@irlgregorsamsa@xalgan Yes exactly, you put it more clearly than I did!! I also wrote an article with Winnie that's more explicitly critical of biological determinism: https://t.co/NrMOLUjY5c
Xalgan does have me blocked, but I can see all the posts and comments.
@figcountry@winnielark Not at all, I know I would have a lot of questions too. It is a shame... I'm embarrassed that so much time and energy went into this public dispute and I just hope we can all move on and refocus on what's important.
@winnielark Several of us have needed to take months off at a time, or lessen our responsibilities to the bare minimum because we're busy. Those cases were no problem at all because it was communicated, so the rest of the team was able to handle and complete their tasks on time.
#TRUST there is so much more to read in the book still… poor Sathi wrote like 8000 words and we all worked together to get it closer to our 2-3k word limit which ended up being like. 5000 words lmfao 😭 this was a labor of love!!! 💗
I picked up a lot of attention due to the current windstorm around my article & I’m excited to continue this series & spotlight the other EXCEPTIONAL pieces in this issue of TWV. I’ll be doing one daily!
Day 2, we are considering the piece I wrote with the inimitable @winnielark
